Chapter 14 Oh! I made a Doll

“Hey, Miss Thasia! Where are we going?” John called as he followed behind the beautiful Dark Elf. “Just shut up and follow me!” She replied coldly. The two went out of the palace and continued to walk around the village. Soon, they arrived at what seemed to be a children’s park. “Why did you take me here?” John asked when he saw some Dark Elf children playing on the field. “You are a child, are you not? Go play.” She said to him. “Huh?” John was stumped. What does she mean play? “You brought me here to play? Hey, look miss, I am already 17 years old!” He blurted. “Oh, really now?” Thasia glanced at him with raised brow. John remembered that he is only a child now. “Well, I will be soon! I will not play with them!” He said firmly. Then, a little female Dark Elf went over and greeted them, “Hello!” She greeted them. “Hello, little one!” Thasia greeted back while smiling sweetly. “Hey, why is your skin brown?” She asked. “Ah, it is because I am not a Dark Elf like you.” John answered. “Eh? What are you then?” “He is a human.” Thasia answered for him. “Ah? A human! The monsters that mama told in her stories at night!” the little girl blurted. “Hey!” John reacted. Thasia smiled and nodded. “But he does not look scary though. Are you really a monster?” She asked. “You are adorable, but you are offensive! I am not a monster!” John replied. “Hm… okay! Do you want to play with me?” She asked. “No, I am good here. Go play by yourself.” “Hey, it is not good to refuse an offer. Go play with her now.” Thasia pushed John to the girl. “I am not in the mood to play!” John refused. “Come, come! Let us go play by the swing!” The girl grab John’s hand and dragged him towards the swing. “I said I’m not… fine!” “Behave yourself! I will get you back in an hour!” Thasia said and left the park. “Where are you going! Oi!” John called her but she just waved her hand and continued walking away. ====================== “Jurach! Anyone! You are being blinded! Let me out!” Svaltar screamed. He tried attacking the prison cell, but it did not work. The bars were made from a rare metal called Polix. It negates all magical skills, so using any spells is of no use. It is also one of the hardest metals in the world. Unless, Svaltar becomes as strong as a giant, he won’t be able to break the cell bars. “Stop it, Svaltar. You will only hurt yourself.” A Dark Elf guarding him said. “Arus, let me out! What you are doing will endanger the entire race! Can’t you see?” “Svaltar, I respect you as my commander before, even now. But what the chief is doing will truly benefit our race! We must let him continue his research and reap the profits later.” Arus said. “You don’t understand! That Kahflear is a traitor! Do you really think he will offer it to the King?” Svaltar said. “What do you mean?” Arus asked. He was intrigued. “Kahflear should have already made deals with the other races and tribes. He will use that as bargaining chip for other races’ support. He will do anything to usurp the throne!” Svaltar revealed. Arus became silent for a minute, then asked, “Where is your evidence?” “Let me out and I will show you my evidence!” Svaltar said. Arus thought it hard for a few minutes, then, “Alright, I will trust you. I will be back at midnight.” “Thank you, Arus!” Svaltar said. After their talk, Arus left the prison hut. “I hope you are right, Svaltar.” Arus thought. ================== “Hey, what is your name?” The little Dark Elf girl asked John. “John. What is yours?” He asked back. “My name is Tutuliana but my friends call me ‘Tutu’. You can call me Tutu as well.” She replied with a smile. “Are you really not a monster?” She stared at John expectantly. “Ha!” John sighed deeply. “I told you I am not. Anyway, for the humans, you are the monsters.” John answered. “Hm? But Tutu is not a monster.” She said tilting her head. “I guess not.” John muttered. “Come, I will introduce you to my friends!” Tutu dragged John over to her friends playing with clays. “Look, I made a Storm Bull clay!” one of the kids blurted. “That is weak! Look at mine, it’s a Burndragon!” another one said showing off his clay doll. “Hey, look! I made a new friend!” Tutu said when she and John came near the kids. “Huh? Tutu, that kid look strange!” The kid with the Storm Bull clay pointed. “Yes, what is wrong with his ears? Are they injured?” The other one asked as he noticed John’s ears. “Hm. They’re not.” John answered. “He is John.” Tutu introduced. “He is a human!” she said excitedly. “Huh? A human? The monster?” the one with the Storm Bull exclaimed. “Are you really a human?” The one with the Burndragon clay doll asked. “Yes.” John replied. “John, the fat one over here is Ariston and this one is Humos.” Tutu introduced the two elves. “Who are you calling fat, Tutu?” The Dark Elf kid with the Storm Bull clay doll complained. For an elf, the kid is indeed fat. He is like a ball. “You are fat, Ari!” Tutu affirmed. “Hm! This is because I have a special condition!” Ariston retorted. “A special condition?” John was intrigued. So, he secretly used his Appraisal skill on the kid. Name: Ariston Delvalorean (Cursed α) Level: 12 Race: Dark Elf Class: None Age:  -- Health: 640 Mana: 1120 ….. “Oh? He is cursed?” John mumbled when he saw the kid’s status. Then he set his appraisal on the other kid. Then he eyed Humos and after, Tutu. Humos was also level 12 as well as the girl is also level 12. “I wonder how old they are.” John thought. “Alright, alright! I am sorry I called you fat.” Tutu said to Ariston. “What are you guys playing? Can we join?” She asked. “We are playing monster clay battle!” Humos replied. “What is that?” John asked looking at the clay dolls on their hands. “These are monster clay dolls we made. Look, we are going to make them battle!” Ariston said excitedly. “Be ready, Aris!” Humos warned. He placed his Burndragon clay doll on the ground. Ariston followed and place down his Storm Bull clay doll. “Wait, wait up! I am going to make my own and battle you too!” Tutu said. She crouched down onto the ground and scoop up a handful of clay. She held it on her small hands then suddenly, the clay started to morph into a monster. “Alright, here I go!” She placed the clay doll she made on the ground. “John, go make one too, then let’s have a four-way battle!” Tutu said to John. “Ha? I don’t know how to make those.” John said. “What? Here, I will teach you.” Tutu said. “We will battle first.” Humos declared then turned to Ariston, “Let’s start!” They started their battle. John was surprised when the clay dolls suddenly moved. “Woah! They are alive?” He exclaimed. “Hehe, they are not. It is just magic.” Tutu told him. “Come here, John.” Tutu placed a handful of clay on John’s hand and she scooped a handful for herself as well. “Watch me closely, I will show you.” She told John. Tutu fiddled with her clay and soon, it slowly took shape. “Just picture what monster you want and guide the clay with your mana.” She guided him. “Okay.” John thought about what monster he should make. Then he thought about the Lavadile. He slowly molded the clay while he infused it with mana. “You are good!” Tutu complimented. “Ting! Mana Manipulation skill acquired.” “Ting! Doll Make skill acquired.” “Ting! Clay Doll Maker title acquired.” “Ting! Thought Weaver title acquired. Title skill open, Imagery skill acquired.” “Woah! Great! I never thought playing with these kids will let me gain skills!” John mumbled in excitement. “Woah! You did it!” “Now, let’s join their fight!” Tutu added. “Wait, how do you make them move?” John asked. “Ha? You use mana, of course!” Tutu said. “Oh! Right, I learned that mana manipulation skill!” John thought. He placed his Lavadile clay doll on the ground and used his Mana Manipulation skill on the doll. “Ooh! It moved!” John said excitedly. “Guys, here we go!” Tutu announced and controlled her clay doll to attack Ariston’s doll. “Hey! That’s cheating, Tutu!” “Prepare yourself, Tutu!” Humos attacked Tutu’s doll. “Not so fast!” John controlled his Lavadile doll and blocked Humos’ Burndragon doll’s attack. “Nice! Alright, its two on two now!” Tutu said while giggling. “Ah? Is that right? Aris you get Tutu, I will handle him!” Humos ordered Ariston. “Ha? But Tutu is strong! You handle her!” Ariston complained. “Just do what I say!” “Loser will buy Sweetened Apuris!” Tutu declared and attacked Ariston’s doll. “Go! Barclaws!” “Ah! Tutu! Stop! Defend, defend!” Ariston made his Storm Bull parry the huge claws of Tutu’s doll with its horns. “Go, Burndragon!” Humos’ doll sped towards John’s Lavadile doll, intending to ram it. “Hehe! Lavadile, lava splash!” John’s Lavadile doll opened its huge maw and spewed a jet of lava towards Humos’ Burndragon doll. The clay melted away as soon as it touched the lava jet. “Ah!? Not fair! How can your doll do that?” Humos cried. “Ah? John, how did you do that?” Tutu asked. “Can clay dolls do that?” Ariston also asked. Then went to console the crying Humos. “There, there. It’s just a game.” “Oy, oy! That’s dangerous! You stinky human!” Thasia arrived just in time and saw what happened. She immediately scolded John. “What?” “You are playing with kids, why did you use a dangerous magic like Lava jet?” Thasia pointed. “They are just playing with clay dolls. Why did you make a golem?” “Ha?” John was confused. Aren’t golems exactly a clay doll? What’s the difference? He thought. “Aren’t their dolls a golem too?” He asked. “You i***t! Come here!” Thasia pulled John away from the Dark Elf kids. “Play you again next time, John!” Tutu called. “Yeah, alright!” Thasia brought John in a corner and made him sit down on a bench while she stood in front giving a harsh lecture. “You i***t human! You are really a dangerous monster, I was right!” “Hey!” John complained. “What? To think you would create a dangerous golem while playing with the other kids!” She continued. “Again, they also made golems, why are you just scolding me?” “Are you blind? Its clear that you made a golem and not them. Those are just dolls!” She said firmly. “Tell me, why is my doll a golem and not theirs?” John asked. He was a bit annoyed. “Did you see their dolls use magic?” She asked, John thought and realized that those dolls truly did not use any magic. “A doll imbued with magic and can use magic is a golem!” she added. “Ha? But I did not imbue my doll with magic!” John corrected her. “You jest! Then how do you explain that lava jet it spewed?” “That was just me manipulating the mana in the doll?” He replied. Truthfully, John did just manipulate the mana in the doll with his Mana Manipulation skill. Also, his new title skill ‘Imagery’ lets him extract what he thinks and manifest it. Although, it is still limited, so he can only manifest a small image like the Lavadile spewing a lava jet. “Huh? Do you think I am dumb? Don’t do that again or I will put you to prison!” Thasia warned. “Let’s go.” She said and walked away. John followed her closely. “Where are we going this time?” John was thrilled now. Just playing with the kids gave him a wonderful skill. He is expecting more blessings to come while exploring the village. “Just follow me quietly. Don’t talk!” The two of them left the park and went to the bustling market area of the village. “Oh, look, that’s the human child!” “A human child in our village?” “What is that human doing with our princess?” Those are some murmurs of the villagers when John and Thasia passed by. “I sure am popular.” John whispered but it did not escape Thasia’s ears. “You wish. Try to make any small mistake and they’ll rip you to shreds.” Thasia said while grinning. “If that happens, I can escape as well, no?” John thought. Thasia went inside to one of the stores. It was an item shop. “Miss Thasia, welcome!” The store’s salesman greeted her. John went in as well, however, he was stopped at the door by the salesman. “Humans are not allowed inside.” He said coldly. “Really now? I am a guest of your King, you know.” John pointed. “Tsk! Even so, this is our store policy! No humans are allowed inside!” The salesman stood his ground. “Just stay put, human and don’t wander off. I’ll get out soon.” Thasia said and continued into the store. “Ah, fine!” John found a spot in a corner beside the store. He sat down and played with the dirt. He made some dolls with his Doll Make skill. He made a lot of dolls. All those dirt dolls were figurines of famous anime characters which John remembered back on Earth. “Ah I miss those animes and mangas!” He whispered. “Wow! You are amazing brother!” A dark Elf kid suddenly approach John. The kid was so interested on the robot-like figurine. “What kind of monster is this? Have you really seen this one out there?” The kid asked. “Ah? That? It is called a Transformer and its not a monster but a robot.” John answered. “A transformer? What’s that?” “Give me it.” John took the robot figurine and placed it on the ground. He manipulated the mana and used his Imagery at the same time. The robot figurine then moved and transformed into a car. “Wow! Amazing!” “Oy, don’t touch that. It’s the human’s stuff, it might be poisoned!” Some of the bystander said. “Who dares poison my son?!” Suddenly a loud shout was heard. “That human kid over there!” A bald Dark Elf pointed at John. “What? A human child tried to poison my son?” A burly mustached Dark Elf soon came in front of John. “Dad!” The Dark Elf kid called. “My son, are you alright?” The burly man said worriedly. “I’m fine.” “Hey, you, human abomination! You tried to poison my son! You should be punished!” The burly man pointed at John. “Wait, old man. I did not poison your son. Look, isn’t he just fine?” John pointed at the man’s son. “You tried to harm him with your golems!” Another man from the crowd said. “They are just dolls. Look.” John grabbed one of his figurines and toss it to the man. “See if it’s a golem.” He said to him. The man back away, dodging the figurine. “Where are the guards!? Arrest this human scum!” The burly old man screamed. “Oy, I am your King’s guest. Accusing me and arresting me for no reason at all, that is too much, no?” John told the burly man. “What is the commotion here?” Thasia came out from the store. “Princess Thasia!” the burly man and the other bystanders bowed to her. “This human tried to harm my child with those golems!” The burly man reported to her. “What?!” She looked at John, “I told you not to make golems again!” “Hey! These are just dirt dolls! Look at it carefully before you accuse me!” John said with anger in his voice. “Oh-ho, this human child is not only vile but also disrespectful to his elders! Call the guards and imprison him! Punish him for disrespecting the princess!” One of the crowds shouted. “Yeah! Punish him!” The crowd followed suit. “Make way! Make way!” An order was heard from behind the crowd. “Good, the guards are here!” “You are stubborn, human! It would serve you good to stay in jail for a bit!” Thasia said. The guards arrived in front of the crowd. The leader of the guards went close to Thasia, “Milady, Princess, you are being summoned by the King. And his Majesty also ordered you to bring his guest with you.” “What? You should arrest this human scum! He tried to harm my son!” The burly man blurted. “Orders of the King! The human child is His guest. Anyone who disrespects His Majesty’s guest is disrespecting him! Offenders shall be punished accordingly!” The leader of the guards announced. The crowd then turned silent. Slowly, they dispersed. “Tsk!” The burly man also left the area with his son in tow. “Let us go, Princess, sir.” The leader said to Thasia and John. =================== “My King!” Thasia bowed as soon as they entered the King’s study. “Your people are rude, you know.” John said to the King. “Indeed, they were. I apologize for that.” The Dark Elf King replied. “Father!” Thasia was surprised to hear her father apologize. “Quiet, child!” The King glared at Thasia. “But-.” She did not pursue it when she noticed the icy glare of his father. “John is a guest that I welcomed. Yet, our people are disrespectful and accused him wrongly. Is it not right for me, as the Father of this village, to apologize on their behalf?” The King said to Thasia. “Well said, your Highness! However, I am also at fault, thus, I do not deserve your apology. It is best that I leave your village, no?” John interjected. The King stared at John for a long while then said, “I have already sent people to get Svaltar from Borina Cave. They will arrive after four days. You can wait until then, right?” “If that is so, then I have no other choice but to wait. But I think I should not wander around the village like today.” John said to the King. “Indeed. I will ask Eunich to prepare everything that you may need.” “Thank you, your Majesty!” John bowed to the King. “You should rest.” The King said to John. When John left the study, he spoke to his daughter, “I am a bit disappointed, Thasia.” “Father, that human child made a golem while playing with some children in the park earlier. And while in the market, he made a bunch of golems and tried to harm another child!” She reported. “He told you that it was not a golem.” “Yes, he di- wait, how did you know what he told me?” She said when she noticed what her father said. “That kid, made a doll and transformed the mana inside the doll, making it looked like a golem!” The King revealed it to Thasia. “Huh? Is that even possible?” “For him, it is. That kid has some unique skills in him.” The King guessed. “What is your plan, father?” She asked. The King did not answer her, instead, commanded her, “Go and prepare the army. Something will happen in the next few days. Prepare for emergency evacuation if things get extra messy.” “What is going to happen, father?” She inquired. “Just prepare for any bad occurrence.” The King answered. “Yes, father!” She bowed and left the room. Back in the Dark Elf village inside Borina Cave, Arus came back to the prison hut at midnight. “Svaltar!” He called in a hushed voice. “Arus, how is it?” Svaltar asked. “I have prepared our escape route.” He said while fishing the key out from his pocket. “Kahflear has not returned yet. There are some of our brothers who still believe you; they are willing to help you.” “Alright. Let us go!” They sneaked out from the prison hut and went around the village. Soon, another Dark Elf appeared waiting for them. “Drigon!” Svaltar called. “Commander! I believe you, I hope you can stop Kahflear, for the good of our race!” “I will do my best. First, we have to go and report to the King!” Svaltar answered. “Part of the reason why there are those who believed you is because we received a secret letter from the King.” Svaltar was surprised when he heard it. “His Majesty sent a group to come to your aid. They will be arriving in two days’ time.” “Good! That human kid made it to the village!” Svaltar blurted. “That human kid? So that’s why he suddenly disappeared!” Arus said in realization. “Alright, changed of plans. I will go and spy on Kahflear, while you guys wait for the King’s people.” He said to them. “Jurach and the others will know you will be gone, and I am sure they will report it to the village chief.” Arus said. “Do not worry. I have a way for that.” As soon as Svaltar said, a part of his shadow emerged and became a clone. “Arus, take my Shadow clone to the prison hut. It will fool them for a while.” “Alright!” “Take this, we will contact you when they arrive.” Arus gave Svaltar a small communication pearl. “Be careful, commander!” Drigon bid and left with Arus. At night, John was sitting on his bed. “Why is that King keeping me here?” He thought. He is confused of why the King is not letting him go. Also, the other Dark Elves hate him because he is human, but the King is treating him like a real guest. “What could be his purpose in this?” He muttered. “Status!” Ting! Can I ask the King to repair my armor? He did tell me I can ask if there is anything I need.” He thought. John went out of his room and peered outside. There were two guards waiting by his door. “Uhm, hello mister guards. Can I ask for Mister Eunich? I have something to ask him.” John spoke to the guards. “Alright. I will call him. Please stay in your room, sir.” One of the guards said without even glancing at John. He did not mind it though. He knew the people in that place hates him. A while later, Eunich knocked on the door. John let him and told him what he wanted, “Can I ask for my armor to be repaired?” “What armor?” Eunich asked. He did not see any armor on John. “This armor.” John lifted his clothes and showed his Cat Armor. “Hm? That thin inner cloth is an armor?” Eunich wondered. “Fine. I’ll ask for an armor smith tomorrow. Is that all?” “Ah, if its possible, may I have some books to read? Any books will be good.” “Books. I will try. If that is all, then I will take my leave.” Eunich said and left the room.
