Daphne's POV I was standing in front of Killian’s office door, rehearsing the smile I'd planned. Not too serious, not too friendly, just enough to make him know I had no part in whatever my father was planning before. Timing mattered, and I’d picked this spot on purpose. Sooner or later, he’d have to walk out. And he did, but he wasn’t alone. Killian’s deep laugh rolled down the hall before I even saw them, and when the elevator door swung open, there she was, Isla walking right beside him like she belonged there.
