"Grannyyyyy!" Sabik kong sigaw habang tumatakbo papalapit sa aking lola.
Sinalubong niya ako at niyakap. My grandmother is not getting any younger. It's making me sad.
Ate Angel hugged Granny like what I did. Worry is evident in her eyes.
"I missed you so much, mga apo. You two owe me a makeover because you didn't visit me for a long time.
"Sorry naaa. Don't worry, we brought a lot of makeups because we love making you even more beautiful, Granny." Malambing kong sabi at isinayaw pa si Granny.
"Just make sure you make me look like a teenager ha. If not, I won't bake your favorite pie."
I missed this villa. We used to visit here every summer but when Ate Angel started college, we weren't able to come here very often and if nagkataon man na makapunta kami ay hindi rin kami nagtatagal dahil maraming kailangang gawin si Ate.
My eyes wandered around the house as we entered the white big double door with gold linings. The cozy living room greeted us and a river of memories flashed on my mind. The three of us used to bond here everyday and I'm looking forward to gladly do it again.
"How are you feeling, Granny? For sure, you're supposed to be confined in the hospital for about a week or two but knowing you, you surely played cute with Doc Caleb again just to make him let you go home."
"I don't need to stay there. Hospital is making me feel sicker. Granny sipped on her green tea and held Ate's hand. "I'm fine, apo. You don't have to worry. Isa pa, Doc Caleb will surely check up on me regularly. He will take good care of me. I have a personal nurse to make sure I'm still breathing.
She rolled her eyes at me and smiled warmly at Granny. "We hope you get better soon, Granny para makapunta na tayo agad sa dagat like we used to do before. Siguradong mas magiging masigla ka kapag nakapunta tayo doon at nakapag swimming. Diba, Chloe?"
I quickly nodded. "I agree, Ate. I so miss the fine white sand there na talaga. I'm so excited na makapunta again doon."
"Don't worry too much. I'm gonna make sure na gagaling na ako as soon as possible para masamahan ko kayo mga apo. But for the meantime, you two should go ahead and go to the beach." Granny said.
After chitchating with us, Granny excused herself to rest in her room. Her nurse accompanied her so we just sat there and kissed her.
After we ate our snacks, we decided to go outside and roam around the villa. We sat on the concrete bench by the fountain that is surrounded by pink and yellow tulips. This fountain has been sitting here for years but it is obviously well taken care of because not even a single algae is visible.
"The gardeners did a really good job here. The flowers are still very beautiful. All these plants and tress is keeping the air in this villa fresh and clean which is very good for Granny and will help her heal fast."
I looked up the blue sky. "You're right. This place is my forever comfort zone.
She nodded slowly. "I hope she gets better soon and lives longer. I can't afford seeing her sleeping peacefully forever. Granny is a very special angel God sent us. She took care of us when we were kids because Mom and Dad were always away. Palaging ang kompanya lang ang inaatupag nila." Ate Angel sounded a bit rude by what she said about our parents but I can't blame her. What she said was true.
Our parents were always away either on the company or going abroad to close some deals.
"But we should still be glad even though they're not always there to take care of us because they give us everything we want, everything we need. Despite all the important events and accomplishments we celebrated without them, they still supported us by letting us do whatever we want and decide for ourselves." Malungkot man ay nakangiti ko iyong sinabi.
"We're very lucky we have Granny. She shouldered our parent's responsibilities by always being there for us."
I silently nodded and agreed to what she said.
