SIA'S POV
"You have such beautiful name for such a person with an ugly attitude!" He snapped, right after I told him my name as he folded his hands on his chest.
"Excuse me, Sir?"
"Nevermind. My lawyer's in the other room, waiting for us"
"Wait, what? Why is a lawyer here?" I asked him.
He rolled his eyes, "Do I need to repeat myself often around you? You're not the brightest in the box, I know! But before I left earlier, I had said that I would be bringing my lawyer over."
"To do what?"
"The contract marriage!" His lips drew back in a snarl, "Did you think I would agree to marry you without any form of contract binding our union?" His voice was laced with
"I don't know. You—"
"Sia Stanton!" He barked, making me to flinch.
Then, he strode over to me, pulled out a piece of paper from his trousers and tossed it at me. "Have this; your rules."
"My rules? Don't you have rules too?"
"Look. Don't make this harder than it already is. I am only choosing to marry you because my family wants me to be married as soon as possible, and you seem to be the right fit"
I was almost forced to smile at his words, but I held myself back. It was suspicious that such a good looking man who had the status and money didn't have more suitable women flocking around him.
"Do you have any more questions?"
I nodded, "Why me?"
"Why you? The last time I checked, you raised this marriage issue first. I don't know what you want out of it, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one who badly wants this marriage thing" He explained.
I was quiet for a moment as I rolled over his words. Rowan was right. I wanted to be married, even more than I suspected he wanted it. This was my only way of getting back at my family and my ex fiance. I would prove to them that I had moved on from that loser who cheated on me with my sister. I would show them that I had ended up with a much better man—Rowan!
I smiled sheepishly at him at the thought of being called his wife.
"Are you okay?" He asked, irritated.
I nodded, "Yes, I am."
I unfolded the paper he had thrown at me and my eyes skimmed through the page.
"No s*x?" I muttered aloud.
"Yes? You don't expect me to have s*x with you, just because we're married, do you?"
"Do you get to have it with someone else then?"
"That's none of your damn business! You're my wife on paper, and I don't expect you to pry into my personal life"
"Then, I don't expect that from you too!" I lashed at him.
He seemed confused at first, but he got a hold of himself and smiled with a nod.
I read another line of rule and looked up at him again, "What do you mean by needing your permission to go anywhere, huh? I am only signing up to be your contract wife and not your slave!"
"That's non-negotiable." He said, "You will be my wife and a reflection of me. In case you don't know, I am a public figure and I would not let you stain my reputation by being in unworthy places"
I sighed, "This is becoming unbearable!"
"You have no way out of this, Sia. No one knows you're with me."
I c****d an eyebrow at him, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"If you don't agree to the terms stated in this rule, I'll make sure no one ever gets to see you walk out of this building. Know that I can make it happen"
I gasped, shocked by the weight of his threat.
Then, I continued to read the paper in my hands. "I agree, as long as you don't completely cut off my freedom. I want to havea life of my own"
"Every life you have after you sign those papers, will be tied to me. Do you f*****g understand?"
I nodded as I caught a line on the paper. "This marriage is to last for 100 days, right?"
"Yes. Do you want it much longer?"
"No! I hope I make it right through these 100 days as your wife without losing my sanity"
"Or your head" He chuckled, "If you choose to pull a fast one on me!"
My mouth dropped open without a word as I slowly realized what I was getting myself into. I was walking right into a marriage contract with a man who wouldn't hesitate to kill me if I chose to opt out of the game, and for the first time, I was begining to deeply regret why I had asked him to get married to me.
"Get up!" He growled.
I scrambled to my feet, careful enough to not hit my arm that was still hung in a sling.
"We've taken way too much time in here, and I'm sure Killian and the lawyer are wondering what's keeping us"
I nodded.
I didn't know who Killian was, but I assumed he was the same man who had barged into the room while he was with me early that morning.
"Let us go." He ordered and swung around.
He had already walked out of the room when he retraced his steps and walked back in again, with a questioning look in his eyes.
"Did you read every single rule on the paper?" He asked.
I bobbed my head.
"There's one particular rule that you must follow with your life."
"Which of the rules is that?"
"Love."
"Love?" I asked.
"We must put up a convincing act to show that we are crazily and deeply in love, every single time we are around people."
I raked my hands through my hair. I had seen that particular rule on the paper, but I didn't know why he was emphasizing too much importance on it. We were only getting married on paper, no strings attached. Why then was he interested in having us act like we were in love.
"Sia Stanton! I'm beginning to pick an offense on how deaf you act sometimes" He said, frowning.
"Uhm, I'm sorry. I was just caught up with thoughts." I stuttered.
"I asked you a question."
"What?"
"Do you have any love interest at the moment, or is there anyone in your life who could make this hard for us?"
I shook my head, "No one at all."
"Your family, then? Would they believe that you are deeply in love with someone you barely know?"
I smiled, "My family is the main reason I need to get married to you. They have no other choice but to believe that you are my new man"
He considered my words for a while and he nodded in agreement, "Alright. Here's the deal; my mother will need a lot more convincing to believe that we are in love. As a matter of fact, she didn't even want me to end up marrying someone else besides Sasha."
"Who's Sasha?"
He clicked his finger, "Sasha is someone you shouldn't bother about, the main issue is my mother!"
I leaned back on the wall, and nodded my head as though I understood what he was talking about.
"My mother is smart" He blurted, "So, She would like to see how long our fake relationship could last and, uh, the only people who know that we would be faking this are Killian, my bestfriend and the lawyer you'll be meeting now"
"Alright."
He forced a smile at me before leaving the room. I trailed after him and we got into the next room where both men were seated, waiting.
In a short while, we were done with the signing of the marriage contracts and he demanded for my banking details.
"What for?" I asked.
"I'll be sending you some money so you can change your wardrobe, because there's no way I'd allow my wife to dress like a mere maid."
I look down on my dress, "I'm well dressed."
He raised his hands in the air, "My grandmother's awake now and my mum texted that there will be a large dinner party at her place next weekend. You'll be going with me."
A chill ran down my spine.
He saw the fear in my eyes and asked
, "Are you backing out now? You'll be going with me to that event as my wife"
