Lucian’s POV  The elevator doors closed, but her face stuck in my head. I could still hear my voice saying, “Next time you fall, I won’t catch you.” It sounded harsher than I intended, but maybe that was better. Distance was safer. Safer than the way my hand almost reached for her before I could think. Sitting in my office, I kept rereading the same sentence on a document. Nothing made sense, my mind wouldn't focus. Damn it. I pushed the file away and stood up. Maybe Finley had something that could distract me. I took a folder and headed to Finley’s office. The corridor was quiet, just the AC humming and the distant click of heels. Finley’s door was slightly open. I pushed it open, but he wasn’t inside the office. This is the one time I actually looked for him and didn’t see him
