Chapter 23: Memories

Sunny

The sun was setting, I was driving alone, and I was pregnant; where did this baby come from? I am not mated, and where is Jinx? Outside seems weird; why do I feel scared? I was going to meet Savannah, my best friend, with whom I am angry right now, because she was having an affair with my husband, Ben, the love of my life; why does it hurt so much to see them together? I appeared in a field next to road, I was meeting someone, I saw Savi, her evil smile scared me and I turned to walk away when I saw they were two men who Savi had hired to detroy me, she started laughing, saying, "Little Miss Perfect, well, I will get rid of you and that pup so I can have the Alpha for myself," I felt a needle in my neck and couldn't link anyone, I started to panic and cry, I was led into this trap by my best friend and she was going to kill me, I was helpless.

She asked, "Who do you think gave you abortion potions in your tea or juice to give you a miscarriage? I couldn't get rid of this one because Ben had a protection spell put on the baby, but with this dagger, it won't help you," and I turn to run when the guys grab me. I screamed, "My baby, please don't do this," but they didn't care; they r***d me one after the other, and when the last guy was done, she knelt over me as I pleaded for her not to do this, and she stabbed me in the belly, "My baby," I yelled. Then she proceeded to stab me repeatedly, and the pain was excruciating, stab after stab, I felt, as I tried to crawl away; she was yelling, "Die, you b***h," and I got numb after the twentieth stab. One of the guys pulled her off me when he heard wolves heading our way, and she kicked me in the gut twice, spitting on me before they ran off; I crawled to the road where I was parked and passed out from blood loss.

I woke up in a beautiful garden and saw the moon goddess; she walked over to me with a baby in her arms and said, "He is beautiful." I smiled, and she explained that I died and offered me a chance to go back or stay; I looked at my son and asked, "What will happen to Savannah?" She said, "I have someone who is a mean girl who can handle her, and I send her back into your body to fix the wrongs," and I said, "I want to go back; Ben needs to know what she did to his son and me." Selene said, "I will send you back, but you will be his second chance mate because, as I said before, that body is gone to someone else who needs it, and you, my dear, will have a wolf this time," and I waited until it was time to go back. It got dark hearing these last words from the goddess, "I gave you two mates, you will meet them around the same time, you can have them both, or you can choose to mate one of them, breaking the other's heart."

Awake

I jumped up, and the memories kept flooding in; my head hurt, and I screamed out when Jinx came through the door in a panic and held me, saying, "I'm right here, I'll call the doctor, okay, sweetie." He felt warm and safe; I felt our bond, and I closed my eyes, wondering what was happening. I knew about Ben being my mate, and I am shocked that Jinx was my other mate. He caressed my face, and I felt the tingling of our bond, and I leaned into his chest more, not wanting to let go. The doctor knocked on the door, and Jinx let him in; he said, "I will be right outside," leaving me alone with the doctor. There was nothing physically wrong with me; I was deemed overwhelmed by the shock of having found my mates. He congradulated Jinx before he left; Jinx got into bed next to me, and I cuddled with him, not wanting this moment to end.

I woke up to an empty bed; I was wearing Jinx's shirt, and inhaled his scent when the door opened, and Jinx walked in. He was wearing just his slacks, and I swallowed, admiring his physique, looking at his chest, remembering his chest tattoo from when I was leaving the garden. It had all come back to me; I was Summer, but I go by Sunny now, and I have an older sister and a younger brother. I need to see my mom later, but I have to play it safe because who will I choose? Ben hurt me in my past life, and since getting closer to Jinx, he has been amazing, but I have to talk to both of them. I ate breakfast with Jinx and talked about what happened. I didn't want to tell him I could reject either of them because I needed to figure out what I wanted; he kissed my lips, and it got heated.

Starlight asked, "Who cares? He was our mate, now, and he can f**k us anytime," and I closed my eyes, letting my orgasm rip through me as Jinx laps up my juices. He stared at me as I came down from my high and said, "You taste so good, mate," and his eyes clouded over for a brief moment, and he looked at me and said, "Ben wants to meet with us."

Ben

I couldn't sleep well after finding my second-chance mate, and I didn't know what happened until I realized my chain was off; I had rested it in the bathroom and had gotten distracted by Jordan earlier. Jordan had gone into town today, shopping, it's what she loves doing, but I couldn't stop thinking about Sunny, she was Summer's younger sister. I was shocked that Jinx was also mated to her, and it clicked; he found out the same time I did, and I wonder why he didn't know before. Something felt off, and I needed answers; I decided I needed to meet with my mate when Jordan mind-linked me, "Will you be at the office later, babe?" I told her, "I will be in meetings until late, so don't wait for me," and she smiled before closing the link. Larix asked, "What are we going to do about Jordan, because I want my mate?" I exhaled and said, "I don't know, I really don't; why would the goddess give me another chance at love when I don't deserve it?"

We decided we needed to talk to Jinx and Sunny, and I mid-linked her, but she seems preoccupied with Jinx; I felt jealous, but she was mated to him also, and she doesn't know me. I waited a few minutes before I mind-linked him, and we agreed to meet by our old spot by the lake, and changed into Larix, heading there. I was resting with my head on my paws when I saw two wolves walking toward me; she was a beautiful gray wolf with blue eyes, and she kept close to Jinx's big brown wolf, after all, he was a lycan. Jinx nudged me and asked, "Why the sad face, Alpha?" I looked at him before going over to a tree, and changing back into my human form, putting on pants. Sunny was wearing Jinx's t-shirt, he wore shorts, and I froze up when she looked at me; she reminded me of my late wife, whom I still held a candle for in my heart.

I walked up to her, and she looked me in the eyes, feeling our bond connected; I didn't know what to do, and she hugged me, and Larix growled, saying, "Mine." I hugged her back, inhaling her scent; I felt a relief wash over me, and I looked at Jinx, who had a big goofy smile on his face, and I asked, "What now?" She backed away and smiled, caressing my face; it's like we have been here before, and her similarity to Summer was spot on. Jinx said, "I guess it's up to her, no pressure, Ben, let her choose," and I agreed, although my heart was still in turmoil with everything going on around me. I felt a slap across my face and saw Sunny's anger, and she yelled, "That is for my sister, you cheating asshole; if you do that again, I will cut your balls off and feed them to my dog." I smiled and looked at her, loving her feisty side; she said, "I don't know who to choose, so both of you will date me, and Ben, it's your turn, so pick me up at eight," before she changed into her wolf and ran off.

Jinx and I stood there dumbfounded, and I mind-linked the guards to watch her and ensure she got back safe; I looked at my best friend, and we sat down to talk. I asked, "Didn't you know she was your mate before?" He nodded and said, "No, I didn't, and I don't wear magical jewelry because I was actively looking for my mate." We agreed this felt weird, but we acknowledged we had the same mate, maybe this was a blessing for both of us, but Sunny was going to choose. I had forgotten all about Jordan because this bond felt stronger than what I had with Summer; I wanted to be around Sunny, her face lit up a room, and I had only known her for a few hours. Jinx said, "You don't want to make the same mistakes, Ben; Break it off with Jordan if you want a chance with Sunny," and I knew he was right.

Flashback

A noise brought me out of my reverie, and I looked around to see my wife waking up; she mind-linked me, "Good Morning," and I smiled, saying it back. I saw the beauty in her smile despite the scar on her jaw from being stabbed in the face, and my heart melted; she was still so beautiful to me. It's been weeks now, since she was released from the hospital, and we had a great night last night; I kissed her lips and had a morning round, she started dressing and acting differently, she was bossier, as they would say, and I loved it; she demanded what she wanted and got it. She even demanded when she wanted my c**k, before the attempted murder, she would wait until I came to her, but not since waking up, when she wanted me, she let it be known, and I loved it; I could never refuse her, and honestly, I don't want to.

Present Moment

The memories about Summer haunted me, but they were good memories of her; I couldn't stop thinking about her since meeting Sunny. Jinx could see I was anxious, and he comforted me with kind words; I returned to the house with Jinx, and we told Rush about our predicament. He laughed and congradulated us, saying, "Now there is someone who will make sure you don't f**k up your second-chance." I don't know why I felt so cowardly, the brave Alpha afraid to make mistakes; I was never like this, and I wanted to do right by Sunny if I wanted her to choose me. I need to end things with Jordan, but how do I end a more than twenty-year relationship after all the promises I made to her? When Jinx mind-linked me, "Don't be late for your date," and I turned to Rush and said, "You need to keep Jordan busy tonight," when his mate Allinia said, "I got you covered, loverboy," and I rushed upstairs to prepare for my date.
