Thalia Blackburr

*Unknown POV* Arunia was a pretty woman. Strange that she looked so much like me, except her hair was darker than mine, which was a bright auburn red, and curly to her straight. I sighed, worried about the events I knew were headed our way. I didn’t know if I was going to be strong enough to stop the evil that was coming for us. After all I was only one Witch. How was I supposed to compete against all of the forces that were coming together when success rested on the shoulders of this one woman laying in front of me on my slab, asleep and unaware? I looked her over again, making sure she didn’t have a mate mark. That was the last thing I needed was some dumb wolf coming after her and having to beat them black and blue. I grabbed some herbs and oils and brought them to my table to mix them. She was perfectly fine, healthy. But I didn’t want to mix them once she woke up and inevitably tried to attack me. I don’t like wolves on a good day, even ones I’m technically related to. I’ve been around for a long long time. Just as I got done I heard her shuffle awake and try to sit up. “Be careful. If you sit up too fast you’ll pass out again.” I said without even turning around. She turned her head to look at me and didn’t move. “Who are you?” Her vice was clear and bright, even though I could tell she was scared also. I smiled a little. “I am no one of importance. Just someone who knows things, and knows who to keep safe, and who to remove from being a problem, no matter the way.” I looked at her and brought over some water. “Just call me Lia. I’m a... Friend.” I sat the water down and started in on heating some soup. She was certainly skinny enough she could use it. “Where am I? Why did you take me?” She sipped the water slowly and examined the room. I didn’t know how much she knew, but I was sure she knew something. “You’re in my home. You’re safe, that’s all that matters.” I brought her some of the soup and sighed. “There’s a lot you probably don’t know. So I need to know what you know, so I can help you. Or we’re all doomed.” I didn’t waver in my serious voice. I felt bad rushing into it all, but time was of the essence. *Arunia’s POV* I couldn’t believe what this crazy lady was saying. I didn’t know anything about anything. I was a normal person, never got into trouble, except with my mother and her crap. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t “know” anything, except how to bar tend and that my family life has sucked my whole life.” I sighed and looked into my drink, a tightness in my chest starting to constrict more. “So you don’t know anything? Your father never told you anything? At all?” Lia said lowly, her voice almost sad. “No. He left the day I was born. He gave me my name and nothing else. Even if he has, my mother is a junkie so if anything was left for me it’s long gone.” I looked away into the small fire in the fireplace, watching the flames lick the inside of the pit. “Well crap.” Lia sighed loudly and shook her head. ............... Darian’s POV: I sat in my office trying to concentrate on the papers in front of me. But I couldn’t. All I could think about was her. It was like my mind was working against me. I had no control anymore. I sighed loudly and sat back as I ran my hand through my hair in frustration. “Hey boss, how are you holding up?” My Beta asked. I sighed again and looked at him. “That bad huh? Maybe you need a vacation? Go somewhere and try to find her or something.” He smiled sadly and exited the room. Maybe he was right. Maybe I needed to go find her and see who she was. She might not even be suitable for a Luna of my pack. “You i***t. Of course she is. Lady Goddess wouldn’t pair us up with someone she didn’t see as suitable.” I tried to ignore my wolf, as he wasn’t helping, just being annoying as usual. “Just because she’s suitable in her eyes doesn’t mean she’s right for the pack. Don’t you remember Alpha Reynardol? He stayed with his mate and she ruined the pack. I can’t take that chance. I have to make sure she’s right for my people. No matter how much we may want and need to be with her. I can’t ruin my pack for selfish reasons.” I blocked him out after that, making my mind up to go to my room and pack a bag. My Beta would be fine running the pack for a few weeks, and I could get some space and find her, and judge for myself. Gods how I hope she’s the right one for my pack, not only for me, but because I didn’t want to hurt her by rejecting her just after finding her. +*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Thank you all for reading!
