Jasmine couldn’t believe she’d allowed her mom to talk her into this. She and David had both been discharged the same night from the ER, and here she was at seven a.m. the very next morning going up to his penthouse. It hadn’t mattered to her mom that it was a Saturday—she’d insisted Jasmine had to be there as early as possible, even though David had no reason to head into the office for work unless he was on-call. Good thing she’d only been on regular pain killers, so she’d woken up clearheaded and had already been up for a few hours. Unfortunately, she wasn’t on weekend duty, so she’d had no valid excuse to bail out of the arrangement.
