Chapter 19
The weekend had been a blur of swirling feelings about the cancer. Being the only one to know and not sharing it with anyone had not been as easy as Jasmine had envisioned. She’d picked up her phone a couple of times to call her mom, but she had stopped each time. It was enough that she alone bore the pain. She could not allow her mom to experience the same.
She’d seen firsthand how devastated her mom could be when she’d told her about the almost r**e. Her mom had blamed herself for not protecting Jasmine, and the trip abroad had been as much a healing time for her mom as for her. Jasmine couldn’t go through that again. She’d been tempted to tell Alicia and Dana, but they’d both been on-call that weekend. Jasmine had also been afraid the news would ruin their wedding planning.
