Two Days Before the Summit. Sybil's POV Packing my bag, I realized nothing I had was ballroom attire, maybe some short dresses, but nothing formal. 'I know who'd have something pretty, my bestie!' My best friend, faith, always has dresses and hunting gear, my type of girl. I went straight to her room in the pack house, and knocked. "Come in!" she said. Her room is full of flowers and deer skulls. She's a little older than me by like 5 years. I'm 18, and she's 23. But she has been my best friend since I met her in the care cabin as my mother was dying. Her father was an Omega and was dying as well, but for other reasons. We became close when her father passed. I heard her screaming and crying, not understanding why. I felt the same way, so I hugged her. After that, we were together every day. When my mother died, she basically lived in my room for almost a year. I didn't want to leave my room so she got me food and made sure I showered. Eventually, I felt better, and she took the lead in training me and showed me some of the most lethal battle skills. She was created to fight; her father was a rogue wolf on the run until my father took him in. He had really outdone himself training her and, luckily, fate intervened and set her in my path. "I need some girly dress-up clothes, you have those, right?" I say. She chuckles and says, "Yeah I do, in the closet. Are you getting ready for the summit?" We both looked at each other and I gave a smug smile. She says "Please let me help you! I got you!" She goes to the closet and starts trifling through dresses. "I don't care about looking extra, I was tempted to grab some jeans and my leather jacket" I say and shrug my shoulders. " Honestly?' I said and gave her an asking look. She turns toward me again and says "Go ahead?" I go on "I just want to help the pack, I don't even care about finding a mate! My father wants me to find a mate when he should be focused on treaties and making up with other packs! I don't know Faith, maybe it's getting to me, but I don't want a husband or kids yet. I want to fix things for our pack before we start to turn our backs on each other." Frustration coursed through my body. Faith! She hugged me and I couldn't help but let the tears drop. She pulls back, and wipes my tears. Finally, she says, "Babygirl, if you don't want a mate yet, I think you're entitled to that decision". "Regardless of what the Alpha wants, you can work around him and still help the pack." "Would you be my backup and help me work around him?" I ask with a sly look. She smiles and says "Yes, of course! Nobody has your back like I do!" I gave her a smile and she smiled back and started to shuffle through the closet again, clueless about the torment losing her would leave me in. But she's right, she's the best combat wolf we've got, and the only omega in the pack that I trust. It's her rightful place to be by my side. Whether fate has my back or not, I know faith does. One day before the Summit. Blakes POV My Betas and I are already on the way to the summit. Runs like this make me feel like I could snap another wolf in half! It helps me think. I'm sure arriving early will help me assess the guests and secure enough votes in support of casting Crimson out of the coalition. Arriving at the Alpha King's palace, I sense so many wolves, and smell so much food. The King must be welcoming packs with a feast. I must start finding allies first and confirm their support before tomorrow: Alpha Lachlan, Alpha Alexander and David. Three friends of my father's. Surely they intend to help me get justice for my father! Alpha Lachlan was like an uncle to me, always there, helping my father, helping me train. I know he will have my back. He and my father were friends and allies long before I was born. Alpha David and Alexander have had long-standing treaties and friendships with my father for years. I'd assume they wouldn't let their friend's murderer get away with his death!? But I don't know much about them and that doesn't sit well. Blake enters the palace grounds with his guards, Cole and Jake. He notices that he's starting to be recognized by other guests. They whisper about his father's death, which shows him that most of these packs seem to have been told some things regarding his father's death as well. He heads straight for the throne room, ready to address the king and do whatever needs to be done to achieve his goals. "Cole, start making friends and assess everyone's feelings on the matter. Jake, go find Alpha Lachlan and set up a private meeting for tomorrow. We'll meet after the feast and discuss what you've learned ." Blake says, and with that they disperse. Walking through the big halls of the palace, Blake's footsteps can be heard bouncing on every wall. He walks with determination and a bit of anger. As he reaches the throne room, he is met by guards and escorted to the king. "Blake, Alpha of the blue moon pack." the guards announced. The king smiles and says "Young Blake? Well, not so young anymore. I remember you. You came with your father to the last summit. I am sorry for your loss. I hope your mother is doing well." "I appreciate your words. My mother has locked herself away in the pack house. His death has taken a toll on us all. I can only strive for justice now." Blake says with clear intention in his voice. The king smirks and proceeds to say "If you seek justice you would need at least half of the coalition to agree, not saying he doesn't deserve justice. But rules are rules. I've heard the rumors, and it's clear he was murdered, but Alpha Andrew has claimed innocence in his involvement. Says he was home with his dying wife and that your father must've been tricked into a meeting by unknown rogues. Now I have no idea what the truth is, but I assume you have more than a hunch. Gather some support and stake your claim tomorrow. If you outnumber those who oppose, we will discuss his punishment together." he smiles. Blake keeps his composure and bows, "Thank you." He turns and walks away with a coniving smile. His plans are coming along, but things are about to be more complicated than he could've thought.
