Chapter Eight: At Hand conflict
POV: Third Person
****Weeks ago****
Everything for Eric and Hazel is rocky, yet they were slowly falling in love with each other. Any free time Eric has she spends it with Hazel. He is a very busy Alpha and Businessman. What Hazel doesn’t know is he is looking into every little detail.
From the building she lived into the security cameras, in the hallway of the bakery she went to. Eric has also taken a look into her company, he has done background checks on all of her employees. The hardest thing that Eric is struggling with is Who bought her parent's company? Normally, that kind of news would swarm the Media but No.
There were a few things that have caught Eric’s eye, there have been three men following Hazel for weeks in New York, when she disappeared so did they. Eric had seen and gotten the thumbs up that everything Hazel had told him was true.
He seen the footage of Hazel and their family friend being shot at, he had seen the footage of Hazel keeping it together at this random gas station. He also took note that she had a blank, in shock expression for the hour she had to wait to board the plane. He needs to let her see the Doctor, his mate has been traumatized.
Most of all Eric is proud of the woman he is falling in love with. She is strong and extremely smart. He wouldn’t do this for anyone else but she is extremely special to him.
What the couple doesn’t know, there is a storm brewing. Eric has every right to be worried. Especially, when his gut is telling him, ‘Find out who bought that company.’
Those who bought the company though not wolves, they are much worse. Human. Humans with a mission. Wolves though powerful in every way, humans that know about wolf existence can be toxic, but how toxic?
****New York Lab 1243****
Behind a closed Vault door, is a man slaving away over a body that’s fighting to keep itself alive. The man uses his elbow to push his glasses back up his nose, he continues to stare down at the open body. The girl that is on the table, is fighting for her life. She isn’t human, she is a. Creature of the night. Why would-be need aesthetic? She feels no pain, the screaming….an act. Right?
The man a scientist, wolves were his life work. When he was a kid, eight years old. He was kicked out of his home by his drug-using parents. Wondering a park one night, he has seen something that he couldn’t believe. A huge Cat? No, a creature. It turned into a human right in front of his eyes.
The creature did not see him. He kept watching from afar, soon it got into a hidden car and drove away from him forever. This gave the boy something to put his pain into. Why couldn’t he be like this thing? Obviously, strong. Why isn’t he strong?
Any free time he had he would research in libraries for as long as he could. Soon he was able to take him to school, he had no friends. Any school trip, he skipped doing more searching. For 22 more years of his life, that night was burned into his mind, he was determined to be one of them.
For an outsider looking in you would think, he just wants to feel no pain. He believes these wolves don’t feel anything. He is just a sad man with a painful lonely life. No, not the case.
What you didn’t know was, he was the one slipping his parents the drugs that slowly made them waste away, he tried to kill them on multiple occasions. The day they ‘Kicked him out’ he got his wish, he actually killed them.
He turned the furnace all the way up, and left every eye in the house on, along with the old I kept wooden heater. Many things could have caused the building to go up in flames but faulty wiring hanging from a vent and the extreme heat thoughts walls is what done it. He felt no mercy.
Shaking the thoughts of his past from his head he continues to dig around in the stomach of a she-wolf. He doesn’t know what he is looking for at this point, which makes him extremely angry. He has gone through five Wolves and cannot find what makes them tick. Once he finds what makes them tick, he can make himself tic. He wants to be the deadliest creature alive, why? Why not?
He knew he was special, from the day he turned eight. There is something looming over his shoulder every step of the way, telling him or persuading him to do these awful things. What though?
The only thing this man has ever felt was anger, and his anger was more like a fire. It just sits and waits in his body, ready to be played with. What kind of sick person could only feel hate and destruction for everything around him, the world has never done anything to him anyway.
The girl laying on his table walked right into his hands. He was exploring a college campus, he is the CEO of his own research company so many colleges look to him to sponsor their schools. He had finished his meeting with the head of the campus when this girl walked up to him.
She was tall, curves in all of the right places, long straight black hair. She sparked up a conversation, he couldn’t care less. He was drawn to her though. They talked for a week and she revealed she was a wolf, he acted shocked but was more surprised. Surprised that she walked into his hands after years of searching for one.
The reason she revealed herself was pure, so she thought. He was her mate. He didn’t give anything she said a thought because he never felt love and didn’t want to. The girl was vile, she was a brat, snobby, gold digger. She thought she walked into Paradise when she met her rich mate. She was wrong. It's been five months and he keeps cutting her open looking and letting her heal, repeat. At this point, her wolf had decided to leave her. The pain of her mate doing this to her was too much to bear.
Today, cutting her open killed her for good. Realizing this made him scream, not in the pain of losing his mate but losing his only tie to maybe figuring out how to become one. The table filled with her blood and his tools, he slams his fist on. Shattering glass all around him.
He dumps her body somewhere he can’t remember. He watches the news carefully, he finds out where her funeral is behind held and he shows up. Putting on the best show he could fake-out. He got close to her parents and told them he was her human mate.
They accepted him with open arms which led him into the world of wolves. From that day on he had a field day, he quickly tore through her family's pack of 200. He also learned their connections to other packs going through their things, that’s how he found the closest pack to him. Alpha Patrick Domain, founded Domain Enterprises.
As a businessman he made friends with Patrick and his wife, quickly learning as much as he could about them, something told him he is where he needs to be.
This couldn’t get any better for him.
