Date Night

632 Words
It was around midnight when I went out because I couldn’t sleep, checking my messages as I walked. My boyfriend hadn’t answered my phone for several hours which was worrying me because he had terrible mental health. “f*****g answer your phone Edmund!” I yelled at my phone in anger, it was the sixth time he ignored my call and it was pissing me off. Not even ten minutes later I heard my phone buzz and it was him “Finally! Where have you been Ed, I’ve been worried sick” I say with a pout. “Sorry, sorry. Where are you now? I’ll pick you up and we can go for a drive” he says and I smile “I’m on Amoris Street my dearest” I replied. Once he confirmed it he hung up and he arrived not even twenty minutes later. “Hey” I said with a smile as I got in, looking into his deep blue eyes. “Hello beautiful” the chestnut haired boy says, making me blush deeply “You’re so cute when you blush like that” he says and reaches out to touch my cheek. ”You’re too sweet Ed” I say with a soft smile as I lean into his touch, buckling up. “Ready to go?” he asked and I nodded in response before we went on our little drive happily. “Ed why have all those people been disappearing?” I asked and he shrugged “I have no clue my dear, but it’s best you stay out of it and stay with me” he says and I nodded with a smile. “Alright, we can swing by mine so I can pack my necessities or we can stay at my house until the murderer is caught” I said and he nodded “We’ll stay at yours” he said and I nodded. “Alright!” I said with a smile as we drove home. Once we were home we got out and went about our night like we usually would before going to bed happy. ••••• A few weeks passed and s**t hit the fan, we were fighting over something dumb and I stormed out. Not too long after I stormed out I bumped into somebody drunk, they were stumbling about and started to get handsy. I quickly called my lover with a whimper and thankfully he picked up, and I started to quickly explain what was happening in a rushed manner. I was terrified as I continued to walk, explaining where I was and what I was wearing so Edmund could find me. When I saw my lover's car I immediately waved and he came by so I could get in. “And this is why you don’t go outside at night without me” he says, scolding me as I got buckled in “I know, I know. I’m sorry Ed, I just needed to blow off some steam after our fight” I replied with a pout. My lover merely grabs my chin gently before giving me a quick kiss. I could never tell what he was thinking but his eyes were darker than usual and it gave me a feeling of unease. Once we were home I slipped off my shoes and sighed, plopping down onto the couch to watch something until I fell asleep. The next night I couldn’t find Edmund anywhere so I grabbed my can of pepper spray I had bought a few hours prior and slipped on a coat and flats before I left. I heard a faint yell so I went to investigate, thinking that Edmund may be hurt but I was wrong. Edmund killed right in front of me.
