The Escape

The Beginning

Adelina’s POV 

It was a perfect Saturday morning, or so it had seemed when I woke up to the smell of breakfast wafting through my bedroom from the kitchen. I made my way downstairs to be greeted by my parents cooking and laughing together. I sat down at the Island where mountains of prepared food were waiting to be devoured. I prepared my plate and watched my parents together, dreaming of the day that I would find my mate. 

I take a look outside and notice that it’s a perfect day for a run outside. Most of the pack would be busy with the visiting pack the blood moon nightwalker and their Alpha Draven. After breakfast I head out back and shift before heading for the woods. My wolf Lucina is a beautiful large white wolf, legend is that the White wolf is extremely rare and powerful wolf said to be a direct descendant of the moon goddess herself. 

I continue my run through the woods distracted by my thoughts when i am suddenly thrown across the woods and there is a large brown wolf on top of me. I try to mind link with the wolf to tell him I am part of the Moonlit Tails pack, when I struggle to mind link the wolf I realize he is part of the visiting pack. I discovered a long time ago that as a white wolf I have special abilities like being able to mind link members of other packs, the first time is usually difficult and takes a few tries before I can reach them. 

“Why did you attack me, I am a part of the moonlit tails pack” I finally get through to the wolf 

“How? What are you?” 

His shock at me being able to mind link him gives me the perfect opportunity to push him off me and run home. I reach my back porch and shift back into human form. Finally home safe, for now. I wasn’t sure who this wolf that attacked me was but all I know is that he’s from the visit pack which isn’t good. If he finds out who I am he could alert his alpha who I am and that I am a white wolf. I can’t shake this uneasy feeling I have as I head upstairs to look for my parents. Something wasn’t right after the encounter in the woods and Lucina can feel it too. I glance outside the window and I swear I saw someone outside. I move closer to get a better look but don’t see anything. I take one last look around the house and resign to the fact that my parents aren’t home. I sit on my bed and turn on the tv putting on the latest episode of my favorite show Grey’s Anatomy. I spend the rest of the day relaxing in my room when Someone Mind Links the whole pack 

“we’re under attack” it was Brogan our Alpha. “they’re after you Adelina you need to run” 

Draven’s POV 

Ever since I saw that beautiful white wolf in the forest this morning I knew I had to have her as my Luna. Beautiful and strong, she managed to buck me off her with ease before running off. I followed her home to see her shift back and she was just as beautiful in human form as she is as a wolf. I had to have her for myself.

I went to Alpha Brogan to demand that she become my Luna. Alpha Brogan wasn’t having that telling me that she belongs to her mate when we both know she can reject her mate, who wouldn’t want to be with a powerful Alpha like myself. 

After some time learned that the white wolf was named Adelina and her parent were now in here with Alpha Brogan trying to convince me not to make Adelina my Luna they prefer an alliance where Adelina is free to be with her future mate and they would help my pack and I when ever needed. I am really getting tired of this. I am an Alpha and have a far superior pack than theirs I don’t need an alliance I need a Luna. I mind link my pack “they will not willingly give her to me then we will take her by force”  

With that my men and women begin siege to the moonlit tails pack while I leap from my spot on the chair in Alpha Brogans office attacking him first. I took some time but I manage to defeat the Alpha and make easy work of Adelina’s parents. 

I head out of the former alpha’s office and make my way towards Adelina’s house she will be mine one way or another. As I approach her house I become excited with anticipation. I will mark her tonight and we will leave in the morning for her new home. 

Adelina’s POV 

Shit! I knew something wasn’t right I need to get out of here fast. I grab my car key’s and a go bag I packed ages ago, part of me always knew I may need one someday but hoped I never would. I don’t have time to grab anything of sentimental value just my purse and go bag. I race to the car parked on the street and peel out of there heading to my sisters new pack. I try to mind link my parents to let them know I got out of the house safe and will let them know where I am once I get there but I don’t feel their connection to link to. I try once more and still feel nothing there. I can only assume that they are gone. 

I pull up my sisters contact on my car’s bluetooth, I need to let her know what happened and that I am on my way. 

“Hello?”

“Isobel” I whisper fighting back tears “Adelina? What is it?”

“We were attacked and Alpha Brogan told me to run, I think they got to our parent too but it’s not safe to check” I choke back sobs as I tell her everything that happened from the run in with the wolf in the woods to the last message I received from Alpha Brogan. “Oh Adelina, sweetie everything will be alright, just get here and we will deal with everything else later” 

I can tell she is trying to be strong for me but she knows I am right about our parents. Six hours later I finally make it to the border of The Silver Guardians pack and I breath out a sigh of relief. I am finally safe, but for how long. A large man approached my car and I roll down my window. “what is your business here?”  I am Adelina Canmore I am here to see my sister Isobel Lancaster her mate is Kye Lancaster. 

The man in front of me mind links someone, presumably my sister to confirm what I had told him. After a few moments he ushers me on my way and I continue my drive to Isobel’s house. When I arrive she is waiting for me on the porch. I park my car in the drive way and collapse in my sisters arms the moment she embraces me. Isobel break the silence first, “I am so glad you made it out safe”  I pull away and wipe a tear away our parents are really gone, I would have heard from them by now. 

Just then an intoxicating smell reminding me of ……… hits my senses and a flash of the final moment I saw my parents laughing in the kitchen flash in my mind. We need to go back and asses the damage and bring back our parents and lay them to rest. As if reading my mind a booming voice cuts through my thoughts “I will send a group of my men back to the Moonlit Tails pack and collect some more of your things and your parents. Any survivors are welcome here.”   I turn to see a tall handsome man with dark complexion standing behind us. As soon as I lay eyes on him Lucina perks up MATE. I have waited so long to meet my mate and this joyous moment over shadowed by my grief. My mate approaches me and takes me in his arms sending fireworks tingling up my arms it feels so good. “I am so sorry Adelina, I will protect you” I bury my face in his chest. I don’t even know his name yet but I know he is telling me the truth, this man will give his life to protect me from the Blood Moon Night Walkers. 

I wake up to sunlight beaming through the window, I must have passed out in the arms of my mate last night. I mind link my sister, “Isobel, where are you?” A moment passes before she responds. “I’m at the Alpha Kings office with Kye, We are sending someone to come get you” I take a look in the mirror and look awful from all my crying I am not looking forward to meeting the Alpha King. I fix myself up as best I can and jump when I hear a knock at the door, my nerves are shot from yesterday’s events. I take one last look in the mirror before heading to the front door. I guess this will have to do. 

The man at the front door is the same man I met at the boarder, he ushers me to a black SUV and I hop in the back seat. It takes all of five minutes to reach the pack house where the Alpha Kings office is. The man that picked me up hops out of the car and opens my door. The pack house is beautiful and very modern. We make our way to the Alpha Kings office when I am hit with that intoxicating smell again, I look around searching for my mate but don’t see any sign of him. My escort knocks on the office door “come in” we enter the office and I stop in my tracks when I see my mate. My mate is the Alpha King and I can’t take my eyes off him. “ Adelina, this is David Osyn the Alpha King”
