I felt trapped and could only hope he wouldn't hurt me after he was done. Maybe my prayers were heard. There was a loud thud, and the man behind me collapsed. I was saved. It took me a while to process this fact. Shaking and unable to stand, I crouched down, hugging myself and trembling uncontrollably. I cried bitterly, looking up to see the person who saved me walk away without a word. Did he not find this strange at all? His retreating figure seemed vaguely familiar, stirring a faint suspicion in my mind. In the wake of such an ordeal, I dared not stay any longer.
