chapter 10

291 Words
He expected his mate to be someone of equal standing, but on his 18th birthday, he found his fated mate was a human girl named Anna , the most inconspicuous, nerdy type with thick glasses and braces. This shocked and disappointed him, and in a fit of rage and anguish, he rejected her. Anna, being human, had no idea what werewolves were, let alone what it meant to be rejected by one's own mate. She was just an ordinary girl in love with the campus heartthrob, Lucien Hughes. So when she heard his rejection right after her confession, followed by excruciating bond pains, she assumed her aches came from loving him too much. She decided to let go of her love and move on, but she would experience the same agony every time she saw him. So she transferred schools. The novel then follows the clichéd plot of how Lucien regrets his decision, struggles between his pride and longing, and finally realizes he is in love with Anna. By the time he decides to pursue her and ask for forgiveness, she had already transferred schools and was no longer within reach. The story then leaps years ahead, showcasing them from teenagers to adults. Lucien, now after 7 years, is no more the flamboyant and prideful boy but a ruthless and cruel Alpha who had been tormented by his longing and love for his mate and had continued his search for Anna until now. Anna is no more the girl next door with thick glasses and braces but the rising neurologist in her residential hospital who is known for her beauty and grace. They meet again when Lucien is injured in a car accident and has amnesia, and Anna is his attending doctor.
