Chapter 3Dario quite liked his job. Mainly because he had chosen it himself, and so he always felt like he had the option to unchoose it, and find something else to do with his time. As a child, he had never considered being a glazier at all, until he met a journeyman in Fresno. He had been just shy of eighteen, and Tomas had been patient with him, remarkably kind, and even sympathetic when he realized that without some sort of intervention or aid, Dario would be moving from town to town for the rest of his life—and that life would be considerably shortened by the strain the work placed on his body.
