NEW DISCOVERY
Liz headed towards the fire station the next early morning. The roller door lifted up as a few firefighters checked hoses, inspected fire hydrants, and other fire equipment while taking notes on a clipboard. A man at least six feet tall swaggered towards her.
“I’m looking for Johnny. Is he around?”
“And who might you be?”
She hesitated, wondering if Johnny would want to see her. “I’m Liz. He knows me.”
“He’s out back. Wait here.”
She looked at other firefighters peering in her direction and frowned. She turned away, looking over at the street and took a breath. Hopefully, Johnny would answer her questions about what the police wanted with him.
She faced the fire station when hearing her name called out. “Hey, Johnny. Thanks for seeing me.”
