Who Comes Running Back

Serina's POV "What are you doing here?" To say I was stunned would be an understatement. I wiped twice at my eyes but he was still there, I wasn't fantasizing. If this moment had been told to me before as a prophecy, I would have told that person to stop lying to my face. I stepped back a little, and meant to close the door when his eyes pierced mine, forcing me to a position. "I need to speak with you." "No, I don't want to." I curtly said as I looked him directly in the eyes. I don't know what he's doing here nor will I like to know. What we had was a contract marriage which he ruined. I have no intention of listening to him. He knew what he was doing when he signed the divorce paper without hesitation and watched me leave without the slightest remorse. I wandered about the streets heavily pregnant and could have lost my life if Austin hadn't stepped into the picture. Now, what? He's on his knees with some petty flowers? He slowly got up on his feet and stepped forward until he was now standing closer to me. As he slowly lifted his head to look at me, and raised the flower to my reach, it suddenly clicked what his motive was. "Come back home." He said, the sudden seriousness in his voice startling in a way that meant to let me know he's not kidding around. I held my face high and scoffed defiantly, "Are you seriously here to order me around, Mr. Nikolai?" I wished I hadn't opened the door and didn't have to see his face either. He thinks he can just come out of nowhere and command me to come back to his home? Oh, right. He must think I was the same pathetic lady he had easily used and dumped. I should be bothered about how he knew where I live now but I know him and I know how nothing is above his reach. Except me though. Unfortunately, I'm not stepping out of this roof or heading anywhere with him in my right senses. "I'm actually here to apologize. And of course, I wasn't joking when I said you should come back home with me." Nikolai's voice remained cold and remote as he let out, and pointed behind him in reference to his car which was probably parked outside the gate. I burst out laughing as I plucked the courage and fully stepped out of the door. In fact, the hangover from last night's drinking was long gone. Just one second, and I was giving him a piece of my mind. "The home you treated me like dirt? Take a look at me. You think I would be this way if you hadn't abducted me off the street and used me? You got me pregnant and then gone were the promises. Admitted, I was a fool for falling into your trap but I was on my damn own then you came and turned me a f*****g mess!" I was never the type to cuss but at that moment, nothing felt even more right. My breathing became more labored, each exhale a struggle against the anger brewing within me. The more I look at him, the more I want to punch a wall. He didn't even look at me as he ran his hand into his hair and released a harsh breath, looking conflicted. "Hey, Mr. Nikolai, you think I deserved that?" I asked him, my anger reaching its peak. That was when he swiftly turned back to face me and my nervousness grew as his face came into view. When he tried pushing the flowers into my hand, I let go and watched it drop to the floor. Surprisingly, he didn't seem to mind it at all. "You think I meant to treat you that way? You should know what happened to me. I had lost all memories pertaining to you, Serina. Without that, I wouldn't have made such a decision. You should trust me." He said calmly, and again, I stared at him disbelievingly. Trust? Does he even know what that means? The first time I decided to trust someone- who so unfortunately happens to be him- I regretted it. Now he expects me to foolishly place my trust on him once again? Sorry, not me. I understand he had amnesia and it partially wasn't his fault but he saw the god-damned contract and marriage certificates! For Pete's sake, if he thought 'I' who couldn't even feed myself had gone to forge those documents then he must be out of his mind. Seeing as I wasn't replying, his emotionless face twitched and he coldly grumbled, "I thought you came to place another man's burden on me. Look, I didn't know. Let's just go back. I mean, we can settle all this at home." "I told you I'm not going back with you. You're just here to waste your precious time. Pick your flowers up and leave." I angrily snapped and a sharp pain surged through my chest. It was the cruelest betrayal. I shouldn't have even told me about our baby. I should have given him no reason to come running back to me. He has someone in his life now. He should go and live happily with her and stop beating a dead horse. "You think you're free from me? Just like that, Serina?" He laughed sarcastically and I was left absolutely speechless. I frowned on his statement. What does he mean? "Yes, just like that. You lost me already, Mr. Nikolai." I taunted him and his face turned red. Clenching his jaw, his piercing sharp eyes narrowed just in time to see him snicker. Raising my brows, I stared at him, my eyes questioning. What's he up to? Before I knew it, he brought out a paper without averting from my gaze and out of nowhere, I found it in my hand. "Let's see who comes running back." He replied with raised challenging c****d brows and I scoffed aloud. I'm getting even more pissed by his arrogance. Ever so slowly, I stepped away from him and before he could add another word, I got in and slammed the door to his face. This time, he couldn't stop me. I looked at the paper in my grasp and grunted. The day couldn't be more worse. Just as I leaned my back against the door to take some relieving breath, it clicked. I reluctantly opened the piece of paper in my hand, my heart hammering against my chest. Slowly, my eyes widened when I went through the content. Alarmed, my hands slightly trembled against the paper. I'm so doomed!
