I didn't shut down the damned Tv. I let it be and flared even more. What the f**k! He got me pregnant, discarded me like some dirty garbage and thinks he can just start a new life with another woman?!
Oh, he just did Serina. And you're nothing but the biggest loser ever.
The door opened and I looked back to see Austin walking over with a suitcase in hand, hair disheveled, and tie undone. His suit was wrinkled and he looked tired. Poor guy, he must just be coming back from work.
"Hi, Austin. You won't believe what I just saw on the…" I jumped to my feet from the couch I had been sitting, and pointed at the news' closing credit as if it wasn't that obvious.
"Tv? Yes, I know." Brow arched in the air, he cuts me off as he knocked his feet out of his shoes and started making his way through the hallway. I followed him, surprised.
"How did you know?" I asked him, snatching his briefcase from his grasp from behind and leaving him with no choice than to let me carry it for him just this once.
This was the modern world and technology era, it felt stupid asking him such.
"Because I was there." He said. At his words, I exploded.
I stopped walking, the shock too overwhelming I couldn't even lift a muscle. Fortunately for him, we had reached the front of his door. He struggled to take his suitcase away from me, but I held tightly onto it.
That explains why I came home to meet the door opened. He must have been in such a hurry even the Tv was left on. 'It was an emergency' my mind kept chanting to me.
Everything seemed rushed. As Nikolai's lawyer, he must know everything pertaining to the sudden romance between Nikolai and the lady.
"C'mon, I'm exhausted. Hand it over already." He said, staring at me with a look of distress and I sighed frustratingly.
"Spare me five minutes." I muttered out of nowhere, inwardly dreading the conversation that's about to follow. "Tell me all you know about it and I had let you go."
I expected him to nod his head and give in but his eyes briefly swept over my entire frame and I saw the disapproval flash in them. In which afterward, he stepped into his room, and closed the door on my face, leaving me to wallow in shame.

Annoying music filled the air. I can hear glasses clicking and the sound of laughter, which echoed the party walls making me even more upset. Rather than feeling a sense of belonging, I was here to drink away my sorrow.
Something Carmine wouldn't let me.
I can feel the regret gnawing at my heart, reprimanding me for being so quick witted but it was too late. Austin's heart wasn't made of steel; a minute of protest was all it took for him to sit me down and tell me all I had wanted to hear and shouldn't have.
What happened to getting over Nikolai? Why couldn't I take my eyes off his affair?
'What if he now has his secretary on his bed? They are in love with each other, and so what?' I thought to myself but ended up here.
How dare he?
I know what was between us was nothing other than a contract marriage but the contract isn't over yet, for Pete's sake. I ought to be in her position. I should have been the one on the Tv screen with him.
Nikolai f*****g Romano used me. How foolish of me to have let him off the hook so easily? Wait, am I thinking of going back to him? No way!
"Are you by chance lying to me right now? Quit already, I'm still not letting you take anything alcoholic." Her mouth that were earlier wide open with intrigue slammed shut, replaced by a huge smirk spelling her disbelief.
I rolled my eyes, exasperated. "Whatever fits, okay? I shouldn't even be telling you." I looked at the vodka bottle in her and internally cursed.
She smiled, brushing away a straying strand of hair away from her beautiful face, "I can't exactly take what you said for the truth, Serina. It remains unbelievable without a proof. So what do you think?"
"Are you telling me to provide a proof? Oh, s**t. I thought we were friends." My frown deepened as I held her gaze. She stared blankly at me before suddenly bursting into laughter.
"You expect me to believe the reputable, striking handsome, billionaire Nikolai owns your pregnancy?" She questioned, eyeing me warily.
I nodded and she scoffed as audibly as she can get, "Where is the proof?"
"Here it is." I declared as I lovingly placed a hand on my swollen belly, indicating my pregnancy.
Carmine shook her head, and shot out of her seat. She inched closer, bending down to get a proper look at my face. Noting my seriousness, she straightened, her gaze softened a little.
She stopped pacing and looked at me angrily, "You should have told me. I didn't want to make you feel any less of yourself so I didn't ask and concluded the child was fatherless. And Austin… you both aren't in a relationship or something?"
"There's nothing between us. H-how can you say such?!" I exclaimed, and if looks could kill, she'd be dead by now.
Although, Austin and I have grown pretty close over the month, dating him has been far off my mind and so it shall remain. I mean, that feels so absurd. I see him as the confidant I never had, not a romantic prospect.
Her eyes grew wide, "I… Wow, I can't believe this. You mean my shipping is basically useless?"
My head dipped back at her forwardness, before I finally answered her with a nod of head. She was wrong. How could she have so many assumptions of me.
The actual seriousness of this situation finally hit me. She can't be serious.
She took a swig from the vodka before a laugh broke out of her. "No, it can't be. I have seen the way he looks at you. That guy has it all written above his head."
There intense seconds passed with her eyes on mine before she mouthed, "f**k no, there have to be something."
I don't know how I had managed to reach home later that night. The last I remembered was sneaking a few glasses of wine down my throat when Carmine wasn't looking.
The next morning, the sound of the doorbell pierced through my peaceful sleep and my eyes fluttered open reluctantly.
I sat upright, and it took a moment for the sleep to clear and enough time to register I was late for work.
Just as I stood up and wore my flipflop, my head began to ache and I suddenly felt nauseated. I didn't drink too much yet I was having a hangover.
I was almost tempted to get back to bed when the intruder at the door rang the door even more louder. Teeth clenched, I sluggishly headed over to the door, in preparation to rebuke the food delivery man. Since other than him, no one ever visits.
A small smile lit up my face as I realized something. He knew I would have an hangover, and ordered a meal before he left. I felt an unnecessary butterfly swim my stomach at the thought of Austin's little gestures.
Could Carmine be right?
"A second, please." I called out, making my way past the living room. I straightened my velvet dress from last night, and pushed the door open.
Seeing no one, I narrowed my eyes confusedly. Was I overreacting? On an impulse, I looked down at the doorstep and my jaw dropped to the floor.
The figure was on his knees by my feet, exuding the air of elegance I had grown somewhat familiar with. This must be an effect from the wine. I shook my head, about to step back when he looked up and suddenly, his eyes met mine.
"Nikolai?"
