Nikolai's Pov
One Month Ago
Although I spend very little time at home, I wonder why it always felt like something was missing. She's now out of my life, and I won't be seeing her again.
My mother's accommodating nature is the reason she spent that long here, thus; now that she's away on a trip, I took the chance. I signed the divorce paper and I have never felt so fulfilled.
Serina is a gold digger, who came into my life out of nowhere to force another man's pregnancy on me. I hope I never cross path with her again, nor have anything to do with her anymore either.
However, I wonder why I'm unable to get her out of my mind. Why do I get home after a tired day at work, and the only thing that had to first come to my mind was her?
"Come in." I growled, becoming even more pissed than I already am when a sudden knock came on my office door, startling me out of my thoughts.
"I'm here with the files, Sir."
Linda, my secretary cat-walked over to my desk, like always. Her voice dripped with the usual irritating sweetness I have grown to ignore. Some other days, I wouldn't even think of seeing her face but I found myself looking up at her, a tempting idea offering itself to me.
Her face turned crimson red when she stepped back to meet my eyes on her. For the first time, I took her body in, only to look away barely two seconds after.
Her clothing left little to the imagination, with its low-cut top and form-fitting skirt that clung to her curves. Her face was a canvas of heavy foundation, bold eyeshadow, and lashes that fluttered with each blink.
I was never blind not to notice what she's been trying to pull since her employment into my company six months ago.
Her seduction which didn't go lost on me had once made me wonder when I'd be free enough to fire her. I hate ladies who act cheap, and despise having someone like that around me.
With the rage coursing through me right now, rather than serving her a sack letter, I contemplated the most stupid idea in my mind and went through with it.
"How about living with me?" I let out before I could stop myself, causing her eyes to widen in shock. Yes, I'm shocked too. My fingers curled around the edge of my desk, my instinct trying to call me out of my decision but I didn't budge.
No, I'm doing this. I can use her to get Serina out of my mind. For the meantime, I can bare living with Linda, as long as my mind's silly infatuation towards Serina f*****g stops.
When night came, I went home in a separate car just after ordering one of my men to bring her over with another car. Linda wanted to go pack her things at her apartment but no way was I letting her waste even more of my time.
What's going on in my mind was a matter of urgency. Moreover, that would only make her difficult to get rid of later on.
As I approached my room, the guard positioned at my door let it open and I walked in. Just as I heard the door click shut, I was met with my mother's enraged face.
For a moment, I stood still, at a complete loss for words. She's glaring at me, her hands that were crossed behind her back together with her pulsed lips, hinting at the press conference I was about to have with her.
"Where is she?" She asked before looking across my shoulders at the closed door in anticipation.
"Who…?" I was saying before I got interrupted.
"Serina, who else?" She wagged a brow and with enough restriction, I maintained my stance and didn't bolt out of the door.
She chosed her. Ever since Serina left three days back, Serina's whereabouts were all she would ever ask of me. She ought to have my side for making such a decision.
If I didn't know better, I had say her longing for a grandchild was what made her accept Serina irrespective of whether I own the pregnancy or not.
"I repeat, she's never stepping foot in here again, mother." My voice reverberated around the room as I shook my head, standing firm on my words.
"What?" She called out in disbelief.
I walked past her, and slumped on the couch by the bed. As I undo my tie and throw it aside to where I care not, her eyes didn't leave me even as she turned around to face me. I sighed, frustratingly.
"I brought someone in. My secretary. Who knows, you might start to like her and forget about that woman?" I relaxed on my seat, a leg crossed across the other as I released the bombshell.
Horrified, she cleared her throat to speak but no word came out of her. I internally smiled… I'm getting there. Soon, and there will be no memories of Serina within my family.
~
It's been a month since she left.
I've never once thought of her. To me, she was just a thorn that I had finally gotten rid of. Not until last night, when I woke and began to look for her, almost throwing the whole building down.
Then I realized I had gained back my memory, but it was too late. I had made a costly mistake. The particular reason why I couldn't even manage to show up at work, my head too occupied I could touch nothing.
What would she think of me? I know I don't have quite a good reputation but while in my right senses, I wouldn't chase a woman out of my abode just after getting her pregnant.
I came across my appearance with Linda on the Tv show and almost lost it. How much more damage have my lose of memory caused?
I mean, my mother wouldn't even speak with me. That's how much she wished I had done better.
"I know nothing about her whereabout, Dante. All I remember is signing the divorce, and watching her leave. I must have gone crazy, don't you think?" I stated rather than asked, feeling slightly annoyed with myself.
He leaned closer to me. "Don't beat yourself to it. You lost your memory and couldn't remember a thing. We are going to find her. We are trying…"
He was still saying when a guard of mine banged in, interrupting the conversation. "We found her!" He hollered and ran to meet me.
I shot up my feet.
