Mum picked a Tuesday.
Circumstance—Eli’s job at a shop in the city centre, Rob’s job doing…whatever it was he did, most of which Eli suspected was at least semi-illegal, and a critical incident calling Dad into overtime shifts for several days and thus delaying the dinner—meant Eli didn’t see hide nor hair of Rob for nearly ten days, either personally or for the stupid meal. It was the longest time without him in six months.
