Chapter 30: Brotherly Love
Evan rushed through the front door of the thrift store in a pair of basketball shorts, leather jacket, and a teal headband. He carried a plastic bottle of water in his right hand. He found Avery near two shelves of Springbok puzzles, huffed, and immediately asked, “Is it true?”
“Is what true?” Avery held a plume of feathers on a plastic stick, dusting. He studied his twin: red cheeks, out of breath, perspiration covering his forehead, Nike shoes with bootie socks. He guessed Evan had spent the last hour or two at Gabe’s Gym, a local beefster palace where men and women of all ages worked out and attempted to stay fit.
“That you sucked Tommy Fort’s d**k last night?”
Avery rolled his eyes. “Where did you hear that s**t? What musclehead have you been talking to?”
