The lights from the ambulance flashed inside the emergency room waiting area as I stared at the door. It wasn’t the same ambulance that brought my sister to the hospital in Mesquite, but it served as a reminder of why I was there. Izzy had fallen down a flight of stairs and rolled to the bottom.
I did my best to recall everything that happened past that point. Both Ayden and I had run down the stairs, over to where she lay, doing our best to get her to wake. Her unconscious body sent my mind into overdrive. I thought she was dead until Ayden found her pulse.
