"Come on, crazy. What are you even mad for? If anything, I should be mad at you." Ashton exclaimed, throwing up his hands dramatically.
I raised an eyebrow at him. I wanted to say a lot of things like I was mad at him for keeping secrets from me, I was madder at him for shipping me off to home from the tracks and I was maddest because that Julia seemed to know everything while I was kept in dark.
But, I didn't say a word; instead I pressed my lips in a thin line.
You see this was a part of my revenge plan: silent treatment.
Silent treatment can be the worst form of punishment for anyone, I am saying from experience. I cry my eyes out when my mom gives me the silent treatment.
And, as far as Ashton went, it was working. I could already see him getting anxious and frustrated.
Good! Take that, Ashton.
I focused my eyes outside the window, on the moving trees and landscape. We were currently seated in a train compartment, heading to Rainsville, the town where the fest was being organized.
The only reason I was in the same compartment as the b3 boys was, because they had the whole compartment to themselves (talk about perks of being a popular band, back in my own compartment, there were two hundred and fifty volunteers alone.) and it would be a convenience to look after Stella without prying eyes.
"Come on, shorty. Give him anything except for the silent treatment," Alex said amusedly, "you can even bash in his head if you want."
Cameron and alex burst out laughing while Ashton flipped them the bird.
Hmm...Alex's offer was tempting, but, it was no fun. Silent treatment on the other hand was doing a great job in irritating Ashton.
"You are so immature, sis, really." Julia remarked.
I fisted my hands. This Julia didn't couldn't leave me in peace anywhere. Apparently, her school was participating in the fest too and here she was, to make my life a hell. Why couldn't she travel with her own schoolmates?
I was about to throw back a nasty comeback, when the compartment door opened and in entered Blake with Stella perched on his shoulders. Blake had taken Stella for a walk (I don't know what he meant by that. How can someone take a walk inside a train?)
My mood instantly changed as soon as I spotted Stella. She was literally a ray of sunshine.
I stood up, reaching forward for Stella, but, before I could do so, the compartment door opened and I stumbled a little due to the shock of seeing the unexpected visitor.
"Hellcat?" Blake asked in disbelief while everyone else cursed under their breaths.
Hailey gave him a pointed glare. I took in her appearance, which for the lack of better word, was...disheveled.
I was so used to getting surprised by now, that, I didn't even have a solid reaction to Hailey's sudden appearance.
"Who brought you here?" Cameron asked her.
She tilted her head in Blake's direction.
"Damn you, Blake!" Alex snarled.
Blake opened his mouth to protest but Hailey jumped in, "Oh no, no. he didn't bring me here. I came here with him. You know, by following him."
All of us could only stare at her, with our mouths agape while she just shrugged.
"Do you all really think that I would let my best friend get away with keeping secrets from me." she began, then, turned to me, "since, you were not going to spill the beans, I decided to take matters in my own hands."
I didn't even have any words left to say to her. She just didn't give up, and, I was now consumed with guilt for ignoring her for so long. Secretly though, I was glad to have a friend like her in my life.
"How could you abandon me in that crowded, stuffy compartment?" Hailey directed her accusation at me.
I rubbed my temples, trying to come up with a justification.
"Blake, how did you manage to run into Hailey? You were supposed to be careful. What if someone saw Stella?" Ashton chided him.
"I swear to god, man. I was careful and nobody saw us," Blake stated then pointed towards Hailey, "except her. She is everywhere, like a leech-"
"Shut the hell up, you dumbass, before I start sucking your blood like a real leech." Hailey snarled at him.
"She is a vampire." Blake whispered to us, cupping his mouth.
"I can still hear you." Hailey stated, smacking Blake on his head.
"Ow, stay away from me, you hellcat." Blake said, backing away from Hailey.
"Gladly." Hailey muttered, and came to stand next to me, glancing at Stella. "Hm...so she's the one."
"Hailey, do you kno-" I started but, she cut me off, holding up her hand.
"Let me deal with this," she then turned to face everyone sitting together on our opposite side "which of you is the father?"
Everyone's eyes including mine, widened. Oh no! She had got the completely wrong idea.
Julia immediately shifted away, "I am not, of course."
I didn't know whether to laugh or roll my eyes at Julia.
Hailey narrowed her eyes at Blake. He immediately panicked.
"Why are you looking at me like that? I am innocent." He said, stepping away.
I face palmed. What the hell was happening?
"Hailey-" I was again cut off.
"I told you Millie, let me deal with this." she said, and took, no scratch that, she snatched Stella from Blake's hand.
Stella was just happy to have a new person fawning over her and started playing with Hailey's hair.
"Aww, you little missy. I am your auntie." Hailey cooed in Stella's ear.
"What the fudge?" Alex exclaimed.
"Hailey, what are you-" I tried again but was cut off again.
"Now, Stella, tell me something, Millie is your mommy right?" Hailey whispered.
To my and everyone's horror, Stella nodded her head, while Hailey gave me a smirk.
"Now, tell me who your daddy is?" Hailey asked Stella, turning to face the boys again.
I don't know how Stella did it or why she did it, but, she lifted her little forefinger and pointed in Ashton's direction.
Kill. Me. Now.
"What the heck? Who taught her that?" Ashton exclaimed in terror.
Hailey burst out laughing at our mortified expressions. "Relax, kiddos. I am just messing around with you all. And, in case you were wondering, who taught her about calling you mom and dad..." she trailed off, glancing at Blake.
"Blake, you are dead!" Ashton and I snarled simultaneously, lunging at Blake, who took off immediately in the opposite direction.
***
Now that Hailey was filled in by us on everything from unknown pisser and Stella and Madison to babyeaters and illegal race tracks (which Ashton was not very happy about), she was now officially a part of project Stella and was now in our compartment.
Blake and Hailey kept fighting for Stella's attention, exchanging occasional glares and insults while the rest of us rolled our eyes at them.
I excused myself to go to the washroom. When I was done, and was washing my hands in the basin, a voice whispered in my ear.
"Miss me?"
I immediately turned around and slapped the person on face without thinking, because, 1) that voice gave me the creeps and 2) my sixth sense alerted me of danger.
When I saw the face of the person, I was left dumfounded.
Creepy dude rubbed his cheeks and glared at me. "I see why Ashton keeps you around. You are feisty."
My hands were itching for some action, to slap him, kick him, knock him out, but I controlled myself. What the hell was he doing here, anyway?
Creep dude glanced around us; there was no one in sight.
"Looks like you are alone right now. I know you are Ashton's girl. But, what's the harm in having some fun behind his back. He doesn't have to know." He leered menacingly.
My whole body was shaking by now. Not because of fear, no, because of the rage coursing through my veins.
How dare he? Looked like he wouldn't learn his lesson without getting his face rearranged.
He mistook my silence as agreement and came closer to me. I waited for the right moment and when he was close enough, I lifted my hand and closed it around his throat, making sure to let my nails dig into his skin.
His face instantly became blue and he thrashed, trying to remove my hand but I was seriously pissed off and had a lot of negative energy to discharge. Or, you can simply say, it was adrenaline rush.
"Listen, you lowdown dog, and listen very carefully. Firstly, never again come within a ten feet radius of me if you value your life, secondly, get this through you thick skull, never ever hit on a girl unless she's interested and thirdly, I am not Ashton's girl." I spat and released him.
He fell to the floor, backing away from me, and then his horrified eyes focused behind me.
I turned around to see Ashton standing there, his face a mask of barely concealed rage.
"What are you doing here?" Ashton snarled at the creepy dude.
"M-Madison-"
Before the creepy dude could finish his sentence, the train came to a jerking halt. I was thrown off balance due to the force and slammed against Ashton.
And, before any of us could recover and think straight, we heard shrieks, screams and the crying of a baby.
Ashton and I glanced at each other with widened eyes.
Stella!
