CHAPTER 2

1000 Words
Lucia woke up to this total silence that just didnt feel right at all. It was too complete somehow. As she laid there ,for a second she thought she was in her old room again, the one with the cracked ceiling and the one whose window stuck open all the time. But this was different. The bed felt way too soft under her and the sheets were so clean. It was weird the air had this sharp smell she didn't recognize. There was smoke in it too or something deeper like power maybe. She sat up slowly and opened her eyes. The room around her was big and cold, everywhere was made of marble and there was just one window showing these tall trees and ground covered in mist. Her chest got tight right then. This wasn't the kind of shelter she had in mind at all. It felt like pack territory. Something about it screamed that. The door opened right then. No knock or anything. A tall woman with sharp eyes came in.She was dressed in dark clothes and you couldn't really tell if she was a servant or a noble.. She looked Lucia over like it was nothing. “It's good you're awake” she said. “Follow me.” Lucia swung her legs off the bed, still glancing around the place. “Where am I?” she asked. “The Full Moon Pack” the woman told her. Lucia's heart skipped like crazy. She'd heard that name all her life ,everyone had. It was this ancient powerful pack that scared people .The pack weren't for omegas thrown out with nothing but a bag and no one to help. “I shouldn't be here” Lucia said quietly. The woman stopped and turned back. “And that's not for you to decide.” They started walking down the long corridors with people moving around quietly each step taking them further. Wolves went by without saying a word, their eyes on Lucia just enough to check her out then look away like she didnt matter. She could feel it the way their shoulders shifted the air changing around her. Omega. That word kept yelling in her head following her everywhere like a shadow that wouldn't leave. They got to this large hall and at the end there was this huge figure standing with his back to them. Even without seeing him Lucia felt this pressure that made her back straight and breath stick. The Alpha. He turned around. Her thoughts just went everywhere. He was so tall with broad shoulders and blue eyes like storm clouds in moonlight. His whole presence filled the room like the walls were made for him and not the other way round. He didn't even need to talk loud to make people listen. When his gaze hit her it was like the world tipped. Something twisted hard in her chest, this burning pull that made her gasp. Her wolf which was usually so quiet far away started moving wild clawing inside her ribs. It was strange she thought what was going on. She stepped back and almost fell. His face got darker for a second but she saw it. “You can leave ,Natasha” he said softly The woman next to Lucia bowed quickly and left. Silence came rushing in. Lucia made herself talk. “I didn't know” she said. ‘I didn't know who or what I was signing to.” The Alpha stared at her like she was some puzzle that bugged him. “You signed a binding contract.” “I didn't know what it even was .I just needed shelter badly.” “That doesn't make it invalid” . he said coldly yet firmly. She lifted her chin even though her hands were shaking. “Then tell me what it is.” He came closer. The air got thick. Her pulse was loud in her ears. “You are my wife” he said. It hit like a punch. Lucia laughed but it came out short and broken. “That's not possible.” “And yet , here you are,” he said as he smiled mischievously. She shook her head. “I'm an Omega. Alphas don't marry omegas.” Something flashed in his eyes, maybe confusion or doubt I think. “The pack law recognizes contracts” he said. “Regardless of rank.” Lucia swallowed hard. “ And if I refuse?” His jaw got tightened. “You cannot.” That pull in her chest came back stronger and even hurtfully. She put a hand over her heart. “Do you feel that” she asked without thinking. He froze up. They didn't say anything for a while. “What do you feel?” he asked carefully. “I don't know” Lucia whispered. “But it feels like something is trying to wake up.” He turned away fast. “You'll get an apartment in the east wing. Don't say anything about this to anyone.” “Why?” He looked at her again, his voice colder. “Because it makes no sense.” She got it then. He felt it too but he wasn't going to acknowledge. As she walked back to her apartment, whispers trailed her in the halls. “A contract wife”. “An Omega.” “ Temporary stuff.” That night in her room , Lucia sat on the bed edge staring at her hands. They looked normal, not something powerful or special. Just hands of someone that is been told to stay small forever. But her chest still burned from that pull. Way off in his chambers , the Alpha stood by the window, his jaw clenched , thinking back to when their eyes met. For the first time ever fate had picked something it wasn't supposed to. Or at least that's what he figured. “I know how to handle this” he said calmly but not really sure.
