I looked up from the carved chess pieces I'd been working on when I heard Caleb's hesitant footsteps. My normally confident attendant stood in the doorway, his posture unnaturally stiff.
"What is it, Caleb?" I asked, studying his face.
He shifted uncomfortably under my gaze. In all my years with him, I'd never seen him this nervous.
"Future Alpha, there's a rumor quietly circulating within the pack territory—it is said that today... Luna Elara, in Seraphina's private residence, attempted to seduce the Alpha King without success, and as a result, her mate bond will soon be severed."
