The splashing waves of the sea and the soft wind of November completes the night life of the villagers. I look up at the clear sky above and see the glimmering stars.
I jerk up when I feel that someone puts a blanket around my shoulders.
"It's already late, why are you still here?" Aeonne ask as he sit beside me on the shore.
"I can't sleep, I need to freed some of my thoughts." I said while looking deeply at his eyes. Which I wish I shouldn't do. Because the moment he stared back at me I felt something strange. There was something his eyes tries to convey, the way he stared at me. But I can't grasp it because he suddenly masked it with his lifeless stare.
"There you are!" My shoulder jerks upwards when Clarrette appears behind me.
"Did I disturb the two of you?" She ask awkwardly.
Aeonne's the one who answered her.
"Nope.. not at all Clarrette, I was just asking her why she's still in the shore."
Then he gets up and offer me his hand in which I accept it. He helps me to get up and the three of us walk silently until we get back in a tent.
"Goodnight." I said at them and lie on the bamboo bed.
The next day I woke up a bit early.
When I went out of cabin it's still dark outside. I was in awe of the view. My timing's so perfect, in which there are still stars shining brightly but on the east Mr. Sun is slowly rising. There were strikes of purple and orange hue that mixes in the dark sky. This is one of the things that is listed in my bucket lists. I savor the moment. And when the sun has risen up I went on the shore feeling the sea's morning air.
I never been this relax my entire life. The lines that most of the elderly spoke: 'If someone's sick just bring him or her in the shore, let them breath the fresh air in the sea. It will make them at ease.' Is some what true.
After I got relaxed, I go to the group of people who are carrying some plastic bags.
"Goodmorning!" I greeted at them.
"Morning, are you perhaps a friend of Caroline's nephew?" The lady wearing a diving suit like the one in which women divers in Jeju Island wear.
"Yes, I'm Sam it's nice to meet you." I said offering a hand shake.
"It's nice to meet you Sam, just call me aunt Izzy." The woman replied.
"Oh! Are you catching some fishes?" Pertaining to the plastic bags that they carry.
"Yes, actually we will go to another Island. We're gonna catch some there too, you wanna come with us?" Said by a lady who's about my age. She has a curly black hair that it almost touches her butt.
I think it's not a bad idea at all, since it's still early and besides they're still sleeping.
"Yeah sure.."
We walk until we reach the motorboat that been on standby.
"Hi! Sorry for not intoducing my name earlier by the way I'm Kelsie." Said by a woman with long curly hair that almost touches her butt.
"Uh... did you do this everyday? Catching fishes and other kind of seafoods?"
"Not really...but since there's no electricity after the typhoon we can't use our fridge to stock some foods that's why we just resort to this."
When the boat touches the fence in which it is part of the sea where the divers catch some seafoods, they all dive into the water.
"Hey! What are you waiting for? Come on jump!" Kelsie shouted at me.
"But I don't have an extra clothes!" I shouted back.
"Oh come on! We don't have any spare clothes either! Hurry their gonna leave us!"
And I see that some of them already dive in the water.
I take a step forward towards and then jump into the water.
"Here," Kelsie handed me a plastic bag and a googles and some equipment needed when diving.
We both dive in and we went to the spot where we could catch some sea slugs and sea cucumbers. Along the way we saw an octopus that is hidding between a corals. Kelsie catch it using a metal stick that she's been holding. After almost an hour of diving we decided to went back to the boat.
I feel a bit exhausted even though it's not my first time, but it's been too long since I last dive into the sea.
IT'S ALREADY around eight o'clock when we went back to Yapak. I was busy chit chatting to Kelsie when I felt a bad aura looking at me.
"Someone's coming," Kelsie said.
I lifted my gaze and saw Aeonne with furrowed eyebrows. Kelsie poke my side, I turned at her.
"Sam, I gotta go.. I'm gonna visit you if time permits me to do so!" She shouted while running towards south.
"Bye!" I shouted back.
Then I look at Aeonne who's fuming mad at me.
"Where the hell did you go?" He said through gritted teeth.
"I went to catch some seafoods along with the lady divers,"
He blews a deep breath to calms himself. And then looks at me irritably.
"Just go back to the cabin and wash yourself. Caroline's worried sick about you." He said and he walks ahead of me.
I went to Caroline who is sitting at the dinning table. Whens she saw me enters the kitchen she stood up and going to hug me but I hand her the plastic bag that I've been holding.
"I'm sorry... I didn't know that you will get worried,"
"You're forgiven dear, but next time before you went out just tell us or just leave some note before leaving." She said at me.
I went to the bathroom to wash the residue of sea water from my body. After that I went to the kitchen to help Caroline and Clarrette cook our brunch.
"Ehem!" I cleared my throat to get their attention.
Clarrette just roll her eyes on me and she continues on grilling some sea bass that I caught.
"Uh Caroline?"
"Yes dear?"
"Uh.. what... uh..can I help?"
"Sure my dear.." she gets three pieces of medium size carrots from the box and handed it to me. "Here, can you julliene it for me?" She ask. I nodded at her.
I wash my hands first and wear the spare apron. Then I get the knife and cutting board and started to juliene the carrots. After I finish julienning, I prepared the ingredients needed in making a fruit bowl. Since the island is abundant in fruit trees like edible wild berries, mangoes, coconuts, bananas, pineapples and the like.
When I finished making the fruit bowl, Caroline ask me to call Aeonne who's sitting outside the cabin. I'm at the door and about to call Aeonne when I saw there's man he's talking to. And base on his expression their conversation must be so serious. When he lifted his gaze at me, he says something to the man. And the only thing that I read the way his lips move is I gotta get going.
He walks towards me. "What?"
"Breakfast is ready,"
