Chapter Fourteen Missing

1240 Words
Amelia’s POV To say last night was fun would be an understatement. Who knew Isaiah, my devilishly sexy mate, could be so dominant? Even now as I sit across from him trying to focus on the reformation packet sent to us by the council I can't help but imagine his hand wrapping around my throat again. Isaiah’s growl breaks me from my thoughts and I adjust my eyes to look at him more clearly. “You better stop whatever you're thinking about before I cross this room and bend you over the desk,” He says in a husky voice. I tug my bottom lip between my teeth excitement at the prospect flooding my veins. “Gross dude,” Levi fake gags rolling his eyes. “Don't be salty you'd be saying the same thing if you could smell your mate's sweet scent of arousal wafting through the air,” Isaiah explains his eyes locking with mine. “Yeah, my mate doesn't even want me,” Levi grunts. “Sorry Levi,” I apologize to my friend. “And you,” I say “stop rubbing it in,” I order shooting Isaiah a glare. “My bad bro,” Isaiah sighs clapping his hand down on Levi’s shoulder. “I just, I wish I knew why she is so afraid of the bond, she freaks out anytime I try to touch her and she barely speaks to me,” Levi tells us his voice low and broken. “Do you have any idea why she would be reacting this way?” I ask Isaiah. “No, nobody speaks about it. All I know is she came to the pack with Ian and apparently killed another member the first night for disrespecting her. She hasn't been with any of the men and tends to steer clear of them unless giving orders,” Isaiah explains. “Let's forget about it, we have to find two more packs willing to agree to your reinstatement as a pack within the council and so far we're meeting dead ends,” Levi states changing the subject. “You're right. Have we contacted the Forest Pack yet? I grew up with the Alpha’s son maybe we can get him to agree,” Wonders Isaiah. “Is that the pack that bordered yours to the North?” Levi asks flipping through his stack of papers. “Yes, their Alpha was Nolan Moore,” Isaiah answers. “Ah, found it,” Levi’s eyes scan the document and he begins reading aloud, “The new Alpha is his son, Harlow, he took over about five years ago when he killed his father after challenging him for the title.” “Can you set up a meeting with Alpha Harlow to discuss Scarlett Moon,” I cut in remembering the events leading up to the take over all too well. My father had reported Alpha Nolan to the council after he instructed his Beta to reject the mate bond with an omega in our pack. During the investigation, we learned that this was common practice within the Forest Pack since Nolan only wanted strong wolves. Harlow challenged his father before the council could act and he promised that those practices would never take place under his rule. “Will do,” Levi agrees with a nod and pulls his phone from his pocket before standing and exiting the room. “Do you—,” Isaiah begins when Raya barges into the room. “Alpha,” she pants out of breath. “What's going on?” Isaiah demands already in his serious Alpha mode. “Two of the female rogues are missing.” “Are we sure they're missing?” I ask. Raya throws me a disgusted look, and Isaiah growls. “Answer your Luna.” “Yes, I'm sure. They left to patrol the borders of the territory we plan to claim and when they didn't return Kyle and I went to search for them. We found blood near the Western boundary. The area also smelled of Vampires,” Raya says keeping her head bowed respectfully. “These f*****g vampires,” I growl and my eyes flash gold as Acacia comes forward. At that moment Levi returns “I—,” he starts. “What's going on is everything okay?” He asks immediately moving to check over Raya protectively. “The vamps are getting braver,” I reply suppressing another growl. “You were coming to tell us something, what is it?” Isaiah asks. “Oh yeah, I got ahold of the Forest Pack, their new Alpha agreed to meet with you next week,” Levi responds his eyes never leaving Raya. At the mention of the Forest Pack her body stiffens. A flash of pain and longing can be seen in her eyes. “We will have to cancel, with the threat growing closer I won't be able to leave the pack,” Isaiah announces. I agree with him wholeheartedly but I also don't want to see him giving up on getting his pack put back together. “Nothing says that you have to be the one to meet with him. We can send representatives. Levi is well-versed in pack and council matters and can accompany Raya,” I suggest hoping it will give Levi and Raya some needed alone time while allowing Isaiah and I to stay behind and figure out how to handle this Vampire situation. “That could work, Raya, can you act as a representative?” Isaiah asks his gamma. Still frozen in her spot Raya blinks rapidly. She shakes her head and opens her mouth a few times. “Yes, I can do that,” She agrees. “Are you sure?” “Yes, Alpha,” She confirms. “Okay good, Levi make the arrangements and I will check with Carter to get his approval for your absence,” I say. Everyone clears out of the room and I head down the hall to Carter’s office to fill him in on the missing rogues from Isaiah’s pack as well as Levi’s absence. Isaiah’s POV Raya ran out of the room quickly once we had come to an agreement and I could feel her apprehension through the Alpha bond. “Wait up Raya,” I link her as my mate and I part ways. She doesn’t respond but her scent stops getting further away and I catch up to her near the encampment. “Are you okay?” She’s shaking and I reach out to lay my hand on her shoulder when she falls to her knees. “I’m s-sorry Alpha,” she cries. Kneeling beside her I allow her to lean against me. “As your Alpha I want you to be able to come to me when things are bothering you,” I speak low trying to comfort her. “That pack, is the reason I was a rogue,” she mutters barely audible. “You mean the Forest Pack?” “Yes.” “I can send Kyle instead Raya, you don’t have to go,” I assure her. “No,” she blurts, “I have to do this, I won’t let him think he’s won.” Unsure of what she means and not waiting to push I nod in agreement knowing that she is more than capable of she’s got her mind set to a task.
