I explained my plan for Eddie and Esmerelda to the pair of them back down in my workspace. “Though I hate to give Casey and his sarcasm any credit, it is a little bit like The Chimpanzee Dating Game. We’ll bring in some gals for you, Ed, and hopefully, you’ll fall in love this time.”
“Love Eli,” Eddie signed.
“Established and appreciated,” I told him. “I love both of you.” Hugs and kisses reinforced the sentiment in case saying it in two languages didn’t make it clear enough. “I hope we find someone for you, too, Esmerelda.” I gave her an extra squeeze. “I don’t know if you want to fall in love, but I do know I want you to be happy. You’re a special little lady, and I hope you can stay with us either way.”
