Celeste’s New Friend Proves His Worth
I usually devoted Thursday mornings to research, but I was too edgy to do more than enter a few columns of Millicent’s figures into the spreadsheet. I fidgeted, played computer games, rearranged the pens in my drawer, cleaned out the long-neglected recesses of my backpack, and fidgeted some more. Realising I was useless for any real work this morning, I took out Millicent’s Reminiscence, which I’d taken to carrying everywhere.
The research goes badly. The figures refuse to reveal to me any clues as to why the sediment disappears as quickly as it’s deposited.
