Chapter Nineteen

When Mel woke up, Achilles was already gone. She knew he probably had work to do and most likely some planning to do with the party. He wasn't the type of person to rest until every detail was perfect. Mel quickly got up and threw on some clothes. She went to the bathroom and did her morning routine before rushing out of the door to find Bentley and Jax. Mel had a lot of explaining and probably begging to do. Figuring they'd be at the training grounds, Mel hurried down the stairs and through the kitchen. As always, eyes were on her but she informed them. More than likely they knew about the party tomorrow and we're finishing packing. Mel wasn't sure how Alpha Wren would accommodate everybody, but according to Jax, she seemed more than confident. Mel approached the training grounds cautiously while looking for Bentley and Jax. She spotted Jax sparring with a tall, lean, brown-haired dude. They seemed to be taking it easy on each other at the moment. She looked to the left and saw Bentley giving orders to another group of men. They all looked tired and sweaty which made Mel cringe. She felt slightly bad for the group. Mel wasn't sure who to approach first. Both of the men were angry, that was for sure. She figured that she might have better luck with Jax since she knew him a bit better than she knew Bentley. She was just about to change her direction when she heard a low growl from behind her. "What are you looking at?" Mel turned around to see Achilles staring down at her. He had a slight frown on his face and was, to Mel's joy, shirtless. Her eyes widened slightly as she took in his strong chest and broad shoulders. Her eyes made their way down to his abs and v line. "You," she said. He rolled his eyes, "No before. Don't tell me you were checking out my warriors." Mel gave him a small smirk, "And what if I was?" Achilles clenched his jaw tightly. His eyes flashed over to the group of men with a tinge of anger. Mel laughed, "I'm kidding. I was just trying to talk to either Jax or Bentley to fix the mess you created." Achilles sighed deeply, "That's smart. I'm sure they don't want to talk to me right now." Mel flashed him a smile, "You are not their favorite person at the moment, my mate." Achilles smiled softly at her term of endearment. He had to admit he liked the sound of it coming out of her mouth. "I really don't want to leave you here alone though. I can't help how it makes me feel when you're around all of these men." Mel gave him a pointed look, "As if I'm looking at them when you're standing right here." Achilles gave her a wide grin, which she returned. She knew she would have to give him a bit of an ego boost so he would loosen the reins. "Fine," he said. "But I'm training right over there. It's not you that I don't trust. It's the rest of them." Mel shook her head, "I think they all know I'm you're may at this point, but if it makes you feel better, fine." He flashed her a smirk while leaning down to her ear. He brushed the hair behind it and positioned his lips to close. "I'm glad I'm the only one you're staring at," he whispered. "Just wait until this body worships yours." Achilles pulled away and walked back to where he was training previously. Mel felt a blush tint her cheeks as she watched him walk away. She shook her head to get rid of the sound of her wolf purring. Goddess, she was smitten. Even a stupid line like that could get her to blush and her wolf to purr. She noticed the men walking in her direction and Bentley following. She figured this would be her chance to talk to him, even if it was brief. Right as he was about to pass her she stopped him. She grabbed him arm and he abruptly halted. "We need to talk," she stated. He shook her arm off of him and turned to look at her. The look in eyes was almost bored. "I'm in the middle of something," he said harshly. "I'm pretty sure they can train by themselves for a few minutes," Mel said desperately. Bentley was about to object when Mel turned to the warriors. "I want ten laps around the perimeter, right now." "Yes, Luna," they said unanimously. The men began to run and Mel turned back to a shocked Bentley. He sighed in defeat. "Fine. What is it?" He asked. "It's about the party," Mel replied. "I want to make sure we're still on for the plan. I know Achilles was a d**k and I'm not happy with him either. He didn't tell me what he was going to do or I would have talked him out of it. I am sorry and I know he is too." Bentley scoffed, "If he was sorry he would tell me himself. He didn't trust me and that's on him, no on you." Mel fiddled with the hem of her shirt. How could she get Achilles to apologize? "Look Bentley, you know why he did it. What would you have done if you were in his position?" Mel turned to see Brianna. How had she found out about this? Had Bentley told her. Bentley gave her an annoyed look. Mel could tell from the look that he had been the one to tell her. "I would have trusted my f*****g Beta," he said harshly. Brianna shook her head, "Not if it came to Jax." Bentley groaned, "Maybe I would have done something like Achilles did but- " Brianna held out her hand to stop him, "No buts. You both were in the wrong. Now you both need to kiss and make up for Mel. Her safety is more important than the stupid things you boys fight about on a daily basis." Mel looked at him with the best puppy-dog eyes she could muster. She could tell by the frown on his face it was already working. "Fine," he huffed. Mel followed him hurriedly as he stalked over to Achilles. Bentley pulled him away from the men. "Let's put last night behind us," he began. "What you did was wrong, but I get it." Achilles nodded, "I'm sorry, it's just when it comes to Mel..." He trailed off but Bentley got the point. He would do anything when it came to him as well. "So we're good?" "We're good," Bentley affirmed. "Just talk to me next time. I'd like to think that I'm irrational. If you had come to me with those concerns I would have been more than happy to let you use your Alpha command on me." "Got it," Achilles stated. He subconsciously reached out for Mel's hand. She let him have it and he pulled her closer. It was hard to concentrate on anything with her out here. Suddenly, Brianna chimed in, "Shouldn't we make sure Mel knows some self-defense? Just in case things go south?" Achilles wasn't aware Brianna knew of the plan, but he figured it wasn't a bad thing. One more set of eyes could be good. Mel laughed, "It's like all of you magically forgot that I used to be a Gamma. I know how to defend myself rather well." "Great!" Brianna chirped. "Then you won't mind sparring, um, Lawson over there." Mel's eyes were directed to a rather large warrior. He looked as if he had been training for a long time. Mel also couldn't help but admire his toned physique. He was a very good-looking man. Achilles clenched his jaw. He was not the biggest fan of this idea. Lawson was a well-known flirt around the pack. Why did Brianna have to suggest him? Now if he overrode the idea he would look like he didn't think Mel could do it. He stayed quiet. "Okay," Mel said, simply. Achilles felt his wolf bubble up. This would be just as tough of a fight for him as it would be for Mel. He mind-linked Bentley to set some ground rules. He didn't trust himself to speak at the moment in fear of what he would say. "Lawson! Over here!" Brianna shouted. Mel watched both warriors pause and Lawson jog over. "Yes, Gamma?" He said with an edge to his voice. Bentley took over, "You will be sparring with Mel. You won't be sparring to seriously injure one another, this will simply be a gauge of her abilities." Lawson's eyes took in Mel. A small smirk crawled across his face. "She's going to spar in jeans?" Brianna laughed, "I guess not. Let me find her something really quick." Brianna dashed off into the woods to put together an outfit for Mel. "Is the Alpha watching?" Lawson asked Bentley. "Yes." Achilles said gruffly. Mel looked over at him with a confused reflection. He was being quite terse for seemingly no reason. "Awesome," I've been waiting for the chance to show what I've learned. Not to mention, sparring with this beautiful lady won't be horrible." He flashed Mel a smirk and she rolled her eyes. Achilles could feel his wolf getting even closer to taking over. Cain was furious at the blatant flirting going on in front of him. Didn't this i***t know Mel was his mate? Mel looked at Achilles again to see his eyes becoming dark. His wolf was close to taking over. She quickly grabbed onto his hand, while Bentley and Lawson were talking. "Are you okay?" His eyes lightened a bit, "I'm fine. Brianna's back you'd better get changed." Mel looked at him uncertainly before walking over to Brianna. Her eyes widened slightly at the clothes. There was just a red sports bra and a pair of black athletic shorts. She would be half-naked. "This was all I could find." Mel nodded, "It's fine. Just give me a minute to change." Mel went behind a large tree and put off the clothes. The bra fit rather well, but the shorts were big. She tied the string tightly before moving out from behind the tree. She watched everybody's eyes make their way to her as she walked out. She felt immediately self-conscious at the attention. She looked to Achilles to see his eyes golden. Cain was out, and presumably not happy. Surprisingly he remained still as she approached. When she got to the group he quickly pulled her aside. Mel placed both of her hands on his shoulders and Cain purred. His eyes quickly changed back to Achilles'. "Goddess, I f*****g hate this. They're all looking at you. Although, it's not like you tried to stop Lawson." She rolled her eyes, "It's not like he's trying to kiss me. We're just sparring. Tell Cain to back off and let me spar." Achilles growled, "Fine. But if I see something I don't like, you're done." Mel glared at him, "Yeah, okay then. Let me go have a word with those females eyeing you then." He growled and she scoffed. Mel pushed him away from her and walked up to Lawson. She would show his real flirting if that's what he wanted. "Let's go," she said." She sized Lawson up as he smirked at her. She gave him a wink as Bentley began the count down. "Begin!" He shouted. Mel stayed on the ball of her feet as Lawson hopped around. He threw a left hook at her that she quickly side-stepped. He seemed to lead with his left hand. A jab with his right hand confirmed this for her. Mel dodged again and smiled at him. "Getting cocky are we?" He asked. "No, just confident." He threw another left hand and Mel dodged again. She noticed that he dropped his right hand from defending his face every time he threw his hook. If she awaited the hook she could land a quick jab to his face. Then she would be able to get him to the ground which is where the real show would begin. He threw another jab, so Mel knew what was coming next. She wasn't expecting the uppercut he threw next. He made scarce contact with her stomach that made her step back. She was a bit surprised but not hurt. He stepped back and she prepared for his next mood. Like clockwork he positioned for the hook. Right as he executed she threw a quick jab at his nose. He stumbled back and she tackled him. She pinned him to the ground and sat on his waist. She smiled seductively at him, "Got you." He smirked, "I like this position." She lifted a hand and slowly traced down his muscular chest. He shivered slightly as she traced down his abs. "Me too," She whispered. She was ripped off of Lawson, by who she assumed to be Achilles. He swiftly picked Lawson up off of the ground. "That's my mate," he growled. Lawson laughed, "She was flirting with me, Alpha." Achilles growled and punched him in the face. "If you f*****g touch her again, I will kill you." Lawson smiled, "Okay, Alpha." He was pushing it. Mel grabbed Achilles by the bicep and pulled him closer to her. She saw his dark eyes and felt a little guilty. He looked down at her like a predator. He yanked her lips to his and kissed her hungrily. He was proving something to both her and Lawson. Achilles felt the rage inside of him dissipate a bit as he kissed Mel. She had teased him on purpose and he knew that, but he couldn't stop his reaction. The way she touched him made him feel so goddam jealous. He wanted to mark her on the spot to prove she was his. He rubbed his scent on her as he devoured her mouth. Mel yanked at his hair, telling him to slow down, but he didn't. He kept kissing her hungrily and he could feel Cain pushing him to continue. Mel pulled away, "Achilles, calm down. "Mine," he growled, possessively. "Yes, I get it." He moved down to her neck and started sucking on it. Mel could feel his canines against her skin. "No, Achilles. Not here." "Mine," He growled again. "Achilles, I get it. I'm yours and I'm not opposed to you marking me, but not here." He looked up at her with dark eyes, "I really need to mark you." He grabbed her hand roughly and pulled her to the packhouse. She knew this was going to happen sooner or later. That could have been part of her motive when she felt up Lawson. She couldn't help but feel excited as he dragged her up the stairs. He practically threw her down on the bed and got on top of her. He began to trail his hands down her body, making her shiver. She ran her hands across her chest and he growled. "You did that to him. You're f*****g mine. Do you understand that?" Mel swallowed and nodded. "Use your words," he growled. He made his way to her neck and began to kiss it. Mel wasn't sure how she was supposed to speak when he did that. "Y-yes," she squeaked out. He growled deeply, "All of the guys look at you like they want to f**k you. Now, they're going to see this mark and know you're all mine. If they look at you after this I'm going to kill them." She felt herself get hot at his words. He went back to her neck and she felt his canines lengthen. Her core started to throb in want. It didn't help that his member was poking into her. He teased her with his teeth on her neck. She couldn't;t wait for the pleasure she knew was coming. Could he just hurry up? "Do it!" She yelled at him. He didn't waste a second as his teeth pierced her skin. She moaned as the pain mixed with pleasure flooded her system. His teeth sunk deep in her skin as if to prove to her and himself he meant business. He growled in pleasure as he pulled his teeth out and licked the mark. "All mine." Mel nearly melted, but she couldn't. She still wanted to mark him. Mel threw herself on top of him. She began sucking on his neck and she felt him groan. She couldn't wait as the wolf pushed forward. He gained lengthen and she dragged them against his neck. "f**k," He growled. "Do it, Mel." She sank her teeth into his neck. She made sure she went as deep as possible. She could hear him groaning under her. She smiled at the effect she had on him and licked his mark clean. Soon she collapsed next to him and pulled her close to him. "You have no idea what you do to me," he said. She laughed, "Your friend poking into my stomach says otherwise." He smiled at her, "Just wait until it's inside of you." Her eyes widened and he laughed. "I'm so happy you're mine," he said softly. She leaned into his touch and sighed, "I love you."
