Bennett and his team quickly eliminated the threat. The militia was unorganized but had powerful rifles. It wasn’t enough to help them, however. Bennett shut off his emotions and fears for Savannah and focused on the enemy. She was smart enough to get to safety. Better than the last time he found her about to have her throat cut. He still broke into a cold sweat when he thought about it. But she was safe now with Fiona, so he could focus.
Colonel Black’s men were moderately trained but were no match for the militia given their size. Several of the commander’s men were sick, and their forces were greatly diminished.
