Jake heard his brothers’ voices downstairs before the shower went on in Phoebe’s bedroom and drowned them out. He thought about the first time he’d waited for her to shower. The things he’d thought. The things he’d done. The moves and counter-moves that had brought them to his mom’s. Dani had been right. He’d done his job, and love was finding a way.
