She waddles her way to the table where Agent Love waits, and it’s like the baby knows they’ve arrived and knows the food is near. Vegas jostles and turns excitedly inside her belly. Natalie thinks it’s maybe because Vegas senses the chemical rush that Natalie feels as she looks forward to the food. This first meal is easily the tastiest meal of her day. It’s her energy boost that provides her with enough fuel to rally and to think and to be attentive to her interviewer and formulate sentences that make some bit of sense. She feels like an adult with Agent Love like she is meeting a business partner she maintains a formal but cordial relationship with, and instead of working they share water-cooler gossip and stories about boys.
