Drayden - Chapter 8

3921 Words

Drayden - Chapter 8 When I land in front of Tengen, his reaction is defensive, like he now knows what I’m capable of doing to him, instead of bold and on the offensive, like he had been at our first encounter. In a millisecond, he tightens his grip on the laptop and the cord, bends his knees as if ready to dodge or flee, and tenses his jaw. He shifts left to get into the building, but I block his way. He tries the same to my right, and as fast as he is — undoubtedly much faster than a regular human — my speed is superior. “Give it,” I say. “Or what?” He asks. “Or I will hurt you,” I say with pure intent. The confidence he exhibited at my brother’s university when he had pummeled me to the ground and softened my head is gone. There’s fear in his eyes. He knows my threat is real.
