Chapter 57
During the next day Jess found several major areas of disruption, each forcing the Wanderer to scout ahead which delayed the fleet’s journey. Jess chafed at every lost minute. Time was getting short, he was sure, and every delay increased the chance of him arriving too late to do anything… or not arriving at all.
Jess was returning from another such scouting trip when one of the destructive waves washed through jump space, jolting the Wanderer. The ship had no difficulty staying in jump space, which was just as well — sensor indicators showed that the transition layer between jump and normal space was being strained and torn now. Not even the Wanderer could deal with forces that strong.
