The people of the city had many party’s such as the festival of 9 Moons, but I believe everyone loved the festival of 9 Moons, and The following day of sun. Now the day of 9 moons was a day of celebration, lot of eating together, friends drinking together, family’s celebrating, and bringing offering to the 9 moon goddesses. While the day of sun was a day of rest, relaxation. It was a day to relax after the long celebration of the moon goddesses and a day to honor the sun god, a day full of stories, it was a day to remember how the women of airbon fought off our first man born to the Airbonians. It’s one of the most tragic love stories within Airbonian literature. It’s the equivalent to earths Romeo and Juliet. Just more legal, and way more death, and a lot longer of just the span of a few days.
We had finally made it to the center of the city. My family took there seats behind me while I made it to the center of the large moon phases mosaic. Thousands of people were watching and waiting.. this was my first time publicly speaking to such a large crowd and on such a large holiday at that. I took a deep breath and finally spoke. “Happy 9 moons day everyone! I thank you all so much for working as hard as you all have for the last year. I’m very happy you all have been doing your best. And I promise to do the very same for the kingdom when I am king. I know a lot has happened within the last few weeks. But I promise, I will do my very best to make as much as I can.. better. But for the moment I would like to speak about a very important topic.” I took a deep breath. I know I might get backlash for this on many tabloids but I don’t care. It’s important. “Since I have brung Florence here.. everyone has been extremely dissatisfied with that. But you all need to realize that, I’m allowed to love who I love, I’m allowed to have happiness just like all of you.. I know humans haven’t been the best to us.. I know. But I promise you Florence won’t hurt us. She won’t. I do not want this kingdom divided by fear and hatred, so please.. trust me. Now, let’s work towards a more inclusive environment for everyone, we treat everyone equally, and with respect. But please.. find it in your hearts to be kind.. and respect one another this new year.”
Nobody really said anything to my speech. Nor a clap. So, I sat down and Florence took my hand and held it. I picked her hand up and kissed it, After giving her hand a small squeeze; I set her hand down and put my arm around her.
after a moment, Stella and Amy made there way to the center of the mosaic. “Good evening everyone. Happy 9 moons festival. I hope your all doing well on this fine evening. The events will start very soon and Moonlight meadow will be open very very soon, as well as Moon plaza. Thank you all for a wonderful year, and I have the same wishes for the next year as prince Eros. Have a nice night everyone. Stay safe!” Stella smiled and her and Amy walked to the side as the crowd cheered. The festivities started. The kingdom was full of life and wonder. Florence and I took a walk to moonlight meadow, we watched as the little children ran through the meadows, playing and having fun, Getting there nice clothes all dirty, and just running around being children. “Eros? How many moon flowers are we allowed to pick? I want to dry some for our room.”
“Uhh.. I believe everyone’s allowed 6.”
“Ok. Can we pick some?”
“Of course. It’s your first moon festival and I believe that it would be a good way for you to have the full experience.” Florence giggled. “Sounds like a plan. Anyway you pick 3, I pick 3?”
“Ok. Fine by me.”
We began to pick moon flowers. We looked for the nicest ones we could find, such as ones with big blue petals and long green stalks. After about 10ish 20 minutes we had found the best ones. As we were leaving we were stopped by a 7 year old girl. She was crying. We didn’t know why but we stopped to see what was wrong.
“Hey.. are you ok little one?” I said gently. The small girl looked up at me, she had pale skin, blue eyes, and blond hair. With the cutest little wing starts upon her back. “Where are your guardian..?” Florence asked.
“I-I don’t know where my d-dads went..” the little girl sounded so sad and panicked.
“Well.. what is your name dear?” I got down beside her. “Abby..”
“Ok Abby. I’m Eros and that’s Florence. We will help you find your parents ok..?” The little girl sniffed and wiped her tears, Florence luckily had a hanky on hand and gave it to the little girl. Once we had gotten her cleaned up I picked her up and held her. We began walking around and looking for her fathers.
“.. y-your Prince Eros.. aren’t you..?”
“Yes.. why do you ask?”
“Because my dads were talking about you m-marrying Lady Florence the other day.. are you going to..?” The little girl whispered. “Yes. I am going to marry her.”
“Good.. I wasn’t ever a big fan of Lady Minerva..” Abby’s comment caught me off guard but I acted cool about it. “Oh.. we’ll she’s really nice.. but I’m going to marry the woman I love so.”
“Oh.. so Lady Florence is your true love.. are you guys going to have your happily ever after..? W-where you ride off into the sunset..?”
“Mm.. kinda. But it’s going to be even better than that.”
“Woah.. that’s awesome.”
I heard Florence giggle. “You both are adorable.” I rolled my eyes at Florence’s comment, but I felt Abby starting to get heavy. She was getting tired, but I didn’t want her falling asleep before we found her parents. “Stay awake just a bit longer please Abby.. we are so close to finding your dads..” I spoke very softly to Abby so that she didn’t get all panicky again. “But I’m sleepy..” she wasn’t kidding. I could easily hear it in here little voice. “I know.. just a little longer ok-“ I was interrupted by a man he seemed rather frantic and was running over followed by another man. “Abby! Oh my goodness. Thank gods your safe!” The man looked just like Abby, same blond hair and blue eyes. “Daddy!!” I quickly gave Abby to her fathers and they both held her close. “Thank you so much Lady Florence and Prince Eros.. thank you for keeping her safe..”
“No problem sirs.. Eros and I just wanted to make sure Abby got back to her family safe and sound.” Florence smiled softly. “And me and my husband thank you very much for that.. as a token of our gratitude, we would like you to have one of our moonflower tarts.” He grabbed a paper box out of his bag and handed it to me. “Thank you sir.”
“Your very welcome. And thank you for finding our daughter..”
