Sometimes.. I have a hard time pushing my anger and sadness down. That’s what I was taught to do as a child. That’s what I’ve done for years. So now in my young adult years, I can’t. It’s so odd. Something I was once able to do is so difficult now.. maybe it’s because I’m starting to meet maturity? Or something like that. It’s weird. I’ve come to terms with the fact that my body has changed, so has my mind. I don’t look like a little kid anymore. It’s surprising how much one’s mind and body grow within just a couple of years. It’s truly shocking. But that also makes me realize how others have changed around me. Like the girl I grew up with.. the girl who was once my best friend.. the girl who used to always have my back. The girl I trusted the most, but know she’s gone. It’s sickening what a powerful position can do to someone. When Minerva was in the process of learning what being queen would do for her, she learned what she would be allowed to do, and what she could do. She learned the power. The power she craved. The power I didn’t even know she wanted so desperately, she made it clear that she would do anything to get to the top, and now.. she’s a deferent person. She’s cold, selfish, rude, entitled, spoiled, and conniving. She used to be so kind.
I woke up this morning, with the sun shining in through my bedroom garden. Florence was laying on my chest. Last night was an emotional roller coaster. I told her what my father had said.. it upset us both. Knowing that our love may not be allowed.. we had both cried a lot last night. Florence even said “I’m sorry that I’m not an Airbońian. That I’m not immortal..” I told her that she was perfect just they way she is, and that none of this is her fault.. I’m not sure who’s really to blame for any of this if I’m being a 100% honest. This whole situation is just awful. Why can’t I just marry for love like everyone else? Only the royals and nobles are in arranged marriages.. why can’t we ever just have freedom, freedom to love who we want? Freedom to do what please, when we please. That sounds like a wonderful life to live. No expectations, no worries. It all sounds to good to be true.. because it is. Life is difficult and hard.. but, I’m immortal.. I have to love like this got better. I can’t leave ever. It’s scary to think about how I will outlast Florence.. how she’s going to die.. I wish there was a world where we could be together for ever.. have children and be there for one another, have adventures together. But that’s nothing. But a fever dream.. nothing more than that. It won’t ever happen. I think both me and Florence understand that.. I wish that things were different. Florence will age while I’m forever 18.
Soon enough Florence woke up.. it dragged me out of my thoughts. “Morning..” she sat up and got off of me. “Morning dear.. how did you sleep my morning glory?” I smiled softly.”just as shitty as you I take it” her words made me frown. “I’m sorry dear.. I’m sorry you have to worry about all of this. It’s truly unfair..” she put her hand on my cheek and rubbed my cheek with her thumb. “I know it’s not just me struggling with this dear.. you are too. Your being forced to wait for your father to say it’s ok to marry me.. and honestly I believe that, that’s an awful thing to do to your child. Making them marry who you choose, and for such a stupid reason too. Don’t apologize for something that is not in your control. And I think your mother likes me.. so maybe she will convince your father to let you decided.. these next two weeks are going to be difficult.. but we are going to get through this together. Know that I love you so much Eros..” I kissed her forehead. “I love you too darling..” Florence pulled herself closer to me and kissed me. I held her as close as I could as we kissed.. I never wanted to let go of her or lose her. Sadly; a maid knocked on the door. “Your highness. Breakfast is ready. Please get up and come down stairs. Your mother is expecting you and lady Florence..” I pulled away. “Yup! We will be down in a minute.” “Thank you sir.” The maid left and both of us got up. Clothes for today were already sitting out for the two of us. Florence had a beautiful light gray dress that was very lite weight and would keep her cool in the heat. It was long, and went down right above her ankles. It wasn’t overly revealing, it showed her shoulders, ankles, and feet. The one thing that made me very happy about it was the long piece of cloth that fastened her dress on her shoulder, was my family crest. She looked amazing.. as she did in all clothes. “Eros.. can you help me with my hair?” She held up a white ribbon. “Oh. Of course dear.” I took the ribbon from her and she turned around. I gently pulled all of her hair back (except her bangs) into a ponytail, I tied the ribbon into a bow and she then turned to look at me. I fixed her bangs and sideburns.. she looked adorable with her hair like this. “You look beautiful darling.” My compliment made her blush. It was adorable truly. “Thank you lovey.”
“your very welcome dear.. now. Shall we?” I offered her my hand and she happily took it. “Indeed we shall” she was imitating my voice again. “Stop that.”
“STowP tHaT” I rolled my eyes. “Are you done yet Flor?”
“Don’t call me Flor!-.. fine I’m done.” I chuckled. “That’s my girl.” Her whole face turned red. It was pretty cute. “Florence.. your face..” she learned her head on me. No longer talking. “Oh well. Let’s just go eat breakfast.”
Once we had gotten to the dinning room. Florence and I sat down next to one another. For breakfast we all had a bowl of honey melon, ham and cheese omelettes, and a small side of fish for omega-3s. To drink our options were coffee, water, tea, or pomegranate juice. “Oh my goodness.. all of this food is so good.” Florence said as she was happily munching on some honey melon. “I’m glad you enjoy it lady Florence” our head chef Amy said. “Please.. just call me Florence. No need for formalities.” Amy seemed unsure of Florence’s words but did as she wished. “Of course Florence. I’ll take my leave and go eat my breakfast now. I’ll see you all at lunch.” “Goodbye Amy!” Florence waved bye to Amy. They seem to get along great, which is good. “So.. how did everyone sleep?” My mother asked. “Good” Sebastian replied, while my father just grunted; which obviously irritated my mother. “Me and Eros slept ok.. not the best sadly.” My mother cleared her throat. “Understandable.. I didn’t sleep all that well either. With everything that’s going on it’s just.. stressful..” my mother gave my father a side eye glance.. she’s obviously angry with him. My father was completely ignoring everyone, he’s definitely still angry with me for last night.. I could care less. He can be angry with me all he pleases. “ Xavier.” My mother said in a stern voice. “Don’t you have anything to say to your son?” “I have nothing to him. He’s being difficult and won’t listen. If he’s not going to apologize I want nothing to do with him right now.” My mother got even more angry with him. She stood up and grabbed him by the ear. “Hallway. Now.” Her and my father both walked into the hallway. The dinning room doors shut behind them. You could easily hear them arguing. Sebastian shivered at their yelling. “I wish they wouldn’t do this..” “I know Sebastian.. I do too..”
