Pain slowly bloomed all over my body and behind my eyes before I even had the chance to open them. It was slow, it was like waking up from a horrible nightmare I had yet to fully escape from. My fingers, wrists as well as limbs felt like lead.. like a dead weight, useless and numb and really painful.
Something wasn’t right. Something was nowhere near right.
I slowly blinked my eyes as I opened them, my vision was a bit blurry and my throat was as dry as ash. A candlelight flickered next to me, and it made tall shadows appear as though they were dancing across the walls.
The scent of damp wood, smoke, and something sharp yet bitter filled my nose.
I tried to move my body so I could look for where that awful smell was coming from and that’s when I felt it.
My arms... they were pinned
