But scattered among the congratulations were other comments, darker ones that made my stomach twist with anxiety.
*"What about Seraphina Blackwood? Everyone knows she's his true mate."*
*"This is just a political arrangement. You can see it in his eyes—he's not in love with her."*
*"Poor Miranda. She's going to spend her whole life competing with a ghost."*
*"Seraphina's back in town. Wonder how long this engagement will last now."*
*"Miranda better watch her back. The Blackwoods don't take kindly to people trying to steal what belongs to them."*
I scrolled faster, my thumb moving frantically across the screen as I tried to find more positive comments, more reassurance that I wasn't fighting a losing battle. But the negative ones seemed to multiply before my eyes
