After a few seconds of being shocked, Erdy stormed out of the room, leaving Zerra battling with her fears. He never expected her to be a virgin because, according to the file handed to him, she seemed so in love with her boyfriend. He even felt angry at it for some unexplainable reason. He was turned on earlier, especially when he saw her bare p***y. It was so lovely that he wanted to bury himself there for hours. But upon entering her, a barrier fought his d**k, and the tightness was too overwhelming.
He called one of his helpers to bring him some good wine. He needs to drown himself with alcohol to avoid going back there and f**k her to his heart's content.
"f**k!" he muttered under his breath, and the servant in front of him flinched in fear.
"Marius, you've been serving me for a very long time now, what do you think of me as a person?" he suddenly asked his servant as he poured more wine into his glass. Marius was a bit surprised by the question, but he recovered quickly. He cleared his throat and looked straight into the alpha's eyes.
"To be honest with you, Alpha, I feared and respected you the most in my life. But despite you being given the title of a ruthless alpha, you are actually a very thoughtful leader. You never hurt or kill anyone without a good and acceptable reason. You always put the kingdom and your people above all else and…"
Alpha Erdy suddenly stopped from drinking when Marius paused in the middle of his sentence.
"Continue," he demanded calmly.
"And you're longing to meet y-your m-mate," Marius was reluctant, but he knew his alpha very well. He would always appreciate honesty at all times over-sugarcoated lies.
"According to your words, I am at least a good person. But why is the goddess of the moon still denying me of my mate? All the werewolves of my age found their mates during their teenage years. Only a few of them found theirs at a later age. Some have even got their second chance mates already, while I am still here… waiting…" he uttered in complete sadness and frustration.
Marius looked down to hide his face because he was well aware that his alpha hated seeing pity from his people. Only Delta Henry was brave enough to tell their alpha his truest thoughts regarding this topic.
"Is there something else bothering you, Alpha?" he asked, trying to divert the subject to his mate.
"I was thinking if I did something horrible in the past, that's why the moon goddess does not want me to find my mate," he said, and swallowed his wine. He has already finished one bottle and is currently halfway through the next.
"That's impossible, alpha. I've been here since the day you were born, and I never saw or heard anything like that," he disagreed. He wanted to say something else, but Alpha Erdy was already dismissing him.
"Leave me now, Marius, I want to be alone. Thank you for keeping me company for a while," he said, and dismissed his servant.
"You're always welcome because I am always at your service, alpha," he answered with a smile before exiting the room.
Erdy is annoyed because the alcohol is not giving him enough effect to dull his senses. He still had this strong urge to go to the next room. Even his wolf is begging him, too, but the guilt of hurting her is too strong. He is even confused as to why he is thinking of her so much.
In the other room, Zerra is still wide awake. Playing in her mind is the alpha's reaction earlier, after finding out that she's a virgin. He looked so furious, but she was relieved that he didn't hurt her. But still, she's afraid of what's going to happen to her next. This is also the first time that her wolf has wanted to be near another werewolf. She's always been aloof to everyone of her kind. Only her mom appreciated her wolf because her dad always said that her wolf form is the ugliest and most disgusting. From then on, Zerra never shifted again. Even if there were events and festivals where everyone's wolf must be present, she never joined them. She kept herself on her own. She actually never had any she-wolf friends. That's why her best friend and her boyfriend are both humans.
The next day, Zerra woke up with a slight headache due to the lack of sleep. She went to the bathroom to relieve herself and freshen up as well. After doing her simple skin care routine, she removed her robe and wore a plain casual dress. She has no idea if she's going out of the room or staying there. She wasn't given any instructions as to what her role would be in this palace. She checked the time and it was just seven in the morning. She decided to dial Apollo – her boyfriend, because he might be worried about her.
"Hello?" a sleepy voice of a woman answered her boyfriend's phone.
"Hello? Who's this? Where is Apollo?" Zerra demanded as a pang of jealousy was starting to build in her system. It's so early in the morning, and why is a woman answering his phone?
"You're the one calling and you're asking who I am? Are you crazy?" the woman replied rudely. The anger in her heart only intensified as she hissed at the strange woman.
"This is my boyfriend's phone, that's why I'm asking who the hell are you?! And why are you the one answering his phone instead? Where is he?" she inquired angrily. She heard the woman gasp on the other line and the call abruptly got disconnected. She felt like all her blood rushed to her face as she was beginning to feel angrier. She dialed Apollo's number again, and this time it was already out of reach.
"Damn!" she screamed in frustration. Then, tears came rolling down her cheeks and she started to sob. What just happened? Did her boyfriend betray her? No! He won't do that to me. He will never cheat because he's a good man! She thought. As time passed by, she started to feel more and more anxious, so she called her best friend for help.
"Hello Abby, I need your help," she immediately said the moment her friend accepted her call.
"Why? What's wrong?" she asked in a frantic voice.
"I called Apollo just before I called you. And it was a woman who answered when I called his phone. And when I demanded where he was, that b***h instantly disconnected the call and turned off the phone," she explained with a lace of bitterness and fury in her tone.
"What? So, what do I need to do?" she asked. Even her best friend is angry now.
"Can you please check on him? I know it's inappropriate for you to do so, but I can't do it myself because I'm tied to a situation right now," she asked in a heavy heart. She wanted to do it herself, but it's impossible now.
"And how am I supposed to do that? Should I go to his apartment and confirm if he's having an affair?" Abby asked, arching her brows. She, too, is fuming right now because her best friend is very kind to even suffer this kind of betrayal.
"I hate to admit it, but yes. I want you to personally go to his apartment right now and confirm it," she said, almost begging. Apollo is her first boyfriend, and she loves him. She also knew that his love for her was genuine, that's why she was giving him the benefit of the doubt.
"On it, then. I'll call you later. Bye!" Abby assured her before ending the call.
Just after she put her cellphone down, a maid came in and vowed to her. She's confused because, just like her, she's just a servant here, too.
"My lady, King Edgar is asking for your presence at the breakfast table. He specifically ordered me to take you there, right now," she politely informed her. The beating of her heart suddenly quickened as different questions filled her mind. Why does the king want her to join them? She is just a slave here, so she should not be eating with them. Or maybe she was just overthinking it because what they wanted was to let her serve them? Thinking about this, she quickly nodded and followed the maid.
While walking along the long aisle to the royal kitchen, Zerra's heart was pounding really fast. Even her knees were trembling. This was her first time to meet the king personally. She even remembered that her mom told her that King Edgar was a good king. He is very fierce in battle, but gentle and kind to his subjects. At least this thought calmed her a bit. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"Is there a problem, my lady?" she immediately opened her eyes when she heard the maid. She stopped walking without realizing it. She smiled at the servant.
"I'm just a little nervous," she admitted. The maid smiled back and faced her.
"Don't worry, I think the king is in a good mood today," she said. She looks really nice and Zerra feels like she's trying to comfort her. Maybe the uneasiness was very obvious in her face. In return, Zerra only nodded at her and they continued their track.
