Now Sara's brain was jammed. She wasn't able to work out things properly and had innumerable questions in her mind. A Ninja? The girl she helped was a Ninja? How was it possible? Did they even exist? Even they did, then how many and where? These questions must've been clear upon her face as Ninja 9999 sat up and started explaining-
"Remember today morning when you helped that girl? She was a ninja. And so am I. They do exist and are almost everywhere, but incognito. There are ever several in your school as well I can bet, and perhaps, even in your class."
Now, this was too much for Sara, considering the fact there were ninjas in her class, but she didn't say anything.
"I was told how you helped that ninja in the morning. I was quite pleased with your interesting strategy and also the fact you didn't take over the man by direct assault as any fool would. On the contrary, you acted as a diversion as well as a hidden witness had any tragedy taken place. I think you would make an excellent ninja and Miss Pince tells me you are focused and bright," Sara glanced at the principal at her side, who gave her a small smile, involuntarily making her smile back, "and on the whole, I think you would prove yourself well." Ninja 9999 finished.
"You mean," Sara said slowly, "I am going to be a Ninja??"
"Yes." Ninja 9999 nodded, "It may sound unbelievable but-"
"This is so cool!" Sara exclaimed with surprising suddenness. A glint in Ninja 9999's eyes told Sara he was smiling.
"Of course," he muttered, "of course." He finally got up from his seat and put a badge on Sara's shirt, "There," he said after pinning it, "You shall now be addressed as Ninja 3006 by your fellow ninjas. Do not remove it."
"Thank you," Sara said, feeling honoured, but nervous and slightly terrified. She witnessed a few minutes ago how that ninja girl in the alley had faced the danger and prospect of a horrible death. She also felt that the man's murder will not be the last one she'll be responsible for henceforth.
"And remember to keep this whole thing a secret. Do you follow?" he said, breaking her thoughts.
"What if my friends enquire about the badge?"
"It will only be visible to other ninjas, not common people." Then he handed her a paper and whispered, "Follow the instructions, and take care not to show or lose the paper." Then aloud, "I think we are good to go then." and he ushered her and Miss Pince out of the office.
Miss Pince and Sara did not exchange a word till they reached the class, when Miss Pince whispered "Good luck", and left.
Sara felt surprisingly calm after the event that had taken place in the office. She opened the door of her class and saw it was empty. She then remembered it was games period and rushed out to join her friends.
