Lola was trying to thread a needle through a white cloth strapped in a rectangular piece of plastic, she was following a pattern in front of her. The stitches had several different colors, making a pattern of flowers and text. The text written out so far ‘girls just want to have funda’. One of the elder ladies looked over at her work and asked her in a sweet voice, “what are you saying there, sweetheart?” Lola leaned in towards her and said, “girls just want to have fundamental rights.” The elder lady cackled and nudged Lola, “you’re my kind of girl, Lola.” They both grinned. The ladies continued their work in silence, now and then some of them would whisper and gossip a bit. That night was much more quiet than usual, the ladies seemed to be more focused on their work than usual.
