24. Patched The Magic Hole

1442 Words
Sir Kay was still busy fighting a wolf, he waved his sword and tore the animal's stomach, “You're right! But how? This dome is a magic dome. To patch the hole you have to use magic too! As for the remaining magicians I don't think they have that high ability to be able to close the hole again!”  Liam snorted, he couldn't refute the knight's words. It made perfect sense. Ah, how could they exist in this foreign land if they didn't have the proper ability to protect it, namely magic. Being too busy with his thoughts, Liam did not realise that a wolf was spitting poison at him.  And suddenly, a blue light shot out quickly to ward off the poison and destroyed it. Liam was shocked when the blue light erupted along with poison right a few centimetres to the side of his face. His mind was full of question marks, what was that blue light?  At that moment, he could see a small figure was running towards him at full speed. Her hands seemed to be throwing something like transparent blue light at the beasts. The animal was not just destroyed, it paralysed it and neutralised its poison.  Liam was being amazed when he saw that. Troya, one of his friends who he knew was very-very ignorant, tomboyish and often fell asleep in class, was busy throwing something magical. “Liam, those monsters will never run out. We have to close the hole!" shouted Troya when she reached him.  Liam shook his head quickly to regain consciousness, "Yes, you're right. I also thought about it."  "Show me where the hole is!" shouted Troya again.  "Okay! Follow me!" Liam replied immediately running to the far south, bordering the forest which was about a hundred meters from their current position.  But the journey was not an easy one, because of course the animals wouldn't just let them pass. The knight also took a role, to help protect Troya on the way to the hole.  "It turns out you have a talent for magic!" shouted Sir Kay with a smile of victory. It seemed that he had expected it before, only that he never said it openly.  "Yeah, I just found out too!" replied Troya.  "Liam and I will protect you. The two of us will go ahead to clear the path!” Sir Kay ordered again.  "And we will protect you from behind!" continued Mayang, who was now behind Troya's body, followed by Misha.  Troya smiled with relief seeing Mayang's condition, which was still fine even though she looked tired and had several scratches on her hands and feet. But the rest she felt grateful to Misha for protecting her friend.  So the five of them marched in unison towards the border, looking for the hole that became the source of the entry of these monsters. They worked hand in hand, protect each other, so that no monster could harm one of them.  And finally they arrived in front of the hole. It just so happened that at that time, three wolf monsters had just jumped past it. The Knight and Liam swiftly eliminated the monsters. Their breathes were panting, but they remained on guard in case the creature broke back in. But until a while, nothing passed. Feeling that her position was safe, Troya immediately ran toward the gap. The gap was pitch black, in the shape of an oval balck mirror with about two metres height, with a reddish glow around it, a one and a half metres monster could pass through it. Turned out, it wasn't a tear, but a portal that connected a strange place outside with the protected area inside the magic dome.  "It seems that after a while, this hole cannot be passed freely as it was in the beginning," said Liam, drawing his own conclusion, the thought just appeared in his brain.  Everyone nodded in agreement. But that didn't mean Troya could relax. She had to hurry, not knowing how much longer the hole would open. Troya stretched out her right hand to touch the light of the hole. Suddenly her face turned pale.  "This hole comes from inside here," she said.  Their faces all turned pale too, "There are traitors in here!"  "Mr. Tonement,” replied Troya quietly, holding out her hand back.  Mayang immediately exclaimed exasperatedly, "I knew that old man was very cunning!"  “Wait, Troy, if you are here, what about the King? Mr. Tonement is with the King!" Liam asked worriedly.  "Take it easy, I've cleaned it up," murmured Troya, still closing her eyes to concentrate to see what was behind the hole.  Liam and Mayang meant to ask again, but Sir Kay prevented them from doing that. He motioned for the two of them to calm down so that Troya could concentrate on her task this time. They both obeyed, instead they were on standby around the location in case a horde of monsters suddenly appeared in front of them. Meanwhile, Troya was still trying to concentrate, taking several deep breaths. She thought of how to close this gap since she didn't have the slightest clue. But what she did know, was like a shirt that if it was torn it had to be sewn, the holes had to be patched.  That's what she's going to do with this hole. She would sew on both sides, until it closed again. Of course, she couldn't sew it using ordinary thread. Maybe this was where the function of her current abilities .  From the tip of her right index finger, a silvery tendril appeared. But no matter how hard she tried to penetrate it, the tendrils only passed through the gap. Troya was a little frustrated, but she never gave up. She focused her mind even more by taking another deep breath, concentrating so that the tendrils could do exactly what she had in mind.  She imagined that the air around the hole was a solid object like a piece of cloth. She wanted the tendrils to pierce the cloth. Slowly she aimed the silver tendrils at her forefinger, approached his imaginary cloth, and stabbed at it like stabbing a cloth.  And, it worked! Troya exclaimed with joy. Now the process was more difficult. Bringing the silver tendrils to the cloth opposite, and joining the two side together. She stared at the black wall in the hole. At first all she saw was pitch blackness. The hole was black, thick and deep. If she did anything wrong, maybe she herself would slip into it and not be able to come out again. She had to be very careful.  Troya returned to focus on bringing the silver tendrils to the side, then she directed the tendrils to pierce the fabric of her imaginations. Focus. Stay focus. When the vine finally did exactly what she wanted it to do, this time it became easier. The tendrils now seemed to have a memory of what to do.  Troya took the silver tendril up a few centimetres to the top, and did exactly as before, and continued like that. While occasionally she glanced at the thick magic wall inside. And when the silver tendrils were halfway through joining the gap, she saw that the wall within the gap was starting to look like a dark grey mist, no longer pitch black. But still there was nothing for her to see.  Troya remained focused on sewing the gap, but time and time again her attention was distracted because now the dark grey mist became bright. Then there was a reddish light behind the mist. In the dim light, she could see two female figures, visible from the clothes they were wearing, even though Troya could not clearly see the faces of the two.  They both were in a cave. One of them looked very angry, while the other one continued to focus on creating their dark monsters which turned out to be just a little wolf. The animals entered a pool with a dark grey liquid with a popping sound that sounded disgusting.  Troya could hear a line of spells that the woman was chanting, and moments later, a huge creature appeared from the bottom of the pool, in a terrifying form. Its growl filled the entire room.  Troya suddenly gasped in surprise, when she saw a red eyeball staring at her through her body. The woman screamed furiously and darted rapidly towards the gap.  Reflexively, Troya created a shield inside the gap, to hold back the body of the attacker. In a hurry and a little panic, she refocused her efforts on sewing the gap back together.[]
