Selene wakes up to the smell of breakfast after a much-needed full night of sleep. She hadn't felt Onyx move from his place next to her, but he hovers over their cooking rock with eggs baking away on its hot surface.
“Morning," he says as Selene approaches. “I hope you like eggs, potatoes, and wild
berries."
“It sounds wonderful," Selene replies while planting a kiss on Onyx's forehead. “I could have really gone for a side of sausage this morning," she says before heading into the bushes to relieve herself.
The sound of Onyx's hardy laughter causes her to smile. It took him long enough, she thinks while finding a good spot to pee.
