NIA’S POV I stretched under the sheets, sunlight pouring softly through the curtains. My hand reached out instinctively, but the bed beside me was empty and cold. I frowned, sitting up slowly. “Alexander?” No answer. I ran a hand through my messy curls and glanced at the clock. It was already past nine. He wasn’t in the bathroom either. I slid out of bed and headed for the shower, hoping maybe he was just downstairs working or walking Snow. After a quick rinse and throwing on one of his oversized T-shirts and some leggings, I padded barefoot down the stairs. “Babe?” I called out as I turned the corner into the kitchen. Nothing. No coffee brewing. No music playing. No dog leash missing from the hook by the door. I checked the garage. His car was gone. Weird. My chest tighten
