DAY FOUR
Abby sat on the bed, staring down the corridor for a long time after they took Cain away. She was so lost in her thoughts that she startled when the bathroom door slid open. Pushing up off the bed, she walked into the stark room. She pulled the chain and stepped under the ice-cold water. Closing her eyes, she tried to blank out her mind and find a moment of peace.
“Well, aren’t you a pretty little thing?” She spun around at the sound of the voice and wiped the water out of her eyes. A guard was leaning up against the bathroom door. He tossed a couple of towels and a new bra and panties set onto the counter. Then, took a step towards her.
She took a step back and wrapped her arms around her chest, trying to cover herself. “What do you want?”
