CHAPTER SIXTEENCAIN DAY ONE CABIN Seeing her smile eased some of the tension humming through him. He loved being with her, but he couldn’t shake his anxiety. A big part of him just wanted to pick Abby up and take her home. Everything felt wrong out here, everything felt like a threat. It was suffocating, he could barely breathe. He climbed out of the car and followed Abby up the stairs to the cabin. She pushed some buttons and the door opened. He had seen that type of lock at home. It was a special one that needed special numbers for the door to open. Her soft, tiny hand slipped into his and he followed her inside. He scanned for threats but didn’t see anything.
