The Unexpected Friend

“Guys, I’m getting a call from Hammerfist! Looks like we still have people to communicate with!” The group was shocked. None of them even thought about looking at their friends list. While Swift talked with Hammerfist, the group looked over their friends list to find people. “SwiftCodex! It’s great to see you here!” “Hammerfist! You got brought along into this game as well?” “Yup. Although not all my guild members are here. I have a couple of greyed out names. You?” “I haven’t even checked my friends list. One second” Swift pulled up his friends list and noticed all the guild master friends he was friends with were online, but those that aren’t guild masters were all greyed out. “Same. I have you and some other guild masters, but the other people I made friends with aren’t here. Although the people Lazy had me send requests to join our future guild are online.” “Same for me. Some guild masters are reaching out to each other to plan what to do. Are you still going to make your guild Swift?” “Once we get to the nearby town of Walat we will.” “Thought of a name yet?” “I was going to go with Bad Company. Named after a game Lazy and I played before this when we were younger.” “Good name. Although not as good as my Crouching Tiger Hidden Fart guild.” Both Hammer and Swift laughed at the name. “That is a good name”, Swift said. “So what’s the game plan? What guilds are here and where are we meeting?” “That’s the complicated thing. Guild masters haven’t fully decided where to meet. We all know about the World Event and minor events. I'm guessing we are all going to meet in Kansas City and build our own community. From there we’ll probably all vote on which side to help and prepare for the next World Event.” “That’s not a bad plan. How many guilds are we talking?” “Well, if you make one, that’ll give us a total of seven guilds. We have mine, The Iron Legion, Story Watchers, Playhouse, Slaying Hunters, Stel’s Workshop, We Happy Play and then your Bad Company.” “s**t. So all the big names. Compared to our small guild.” “Hey, don’t down play yourself. Your group was a great strike team for a guild. You guys did great. You’ll probably be a similar role, but as a guild. The other guild masters are happy to have you.” “I appreciate that.” “It’s true. Now is time for some details. I need to know what class you picked. Guild masters are trying to figure out what each guild can bring to the table.” “I went with Pugilist. You?” “Same. So, out of the seven guild masters; we have three Pugilists, a Craftsman, a Mage, a Mentalist, and you won’t believe the crazy lucky draw the leader of The Iron Legion got for his Esper class.” “Don’t f*****g tell me the number one player got a Black Listed power.” “Oh boy did he! Not only is it Black Listed but one of the best ones. Energy Manipulation: Dark Matter. Mother fucker can manipulate dark matter! That’s insane. We are only a couple of hours in and apparently he’s already making his way to the middle of the country!” “Good lord. I mean he’s the number one player for a reason.” “Yup. Although he did vote to meet in Kansas City like I did. Votes are not done yet but I’d suggest going there.” “Gotcha.” “How’s your group handling it? You guys were a strike group. Did Lazy, Nitro and Power pick the classes they were before?” “Only Nitro and I stayed the same. Both of us are pugilists. Our new member is GrimmHeart. He picked Mage and is going to be our healer and support. Power is our Craftsman this time and Lazy went risky and picked Esper.” “Lazy not being a Craftsman or Mage?! That’s crazy. He was really good. Hopefully he got a good power as an Esper?” “He got an advanced one. Power Shield.” “Power Shield? Never heard of that. Must be a rare one.” “We think so. None of us have ever heard of it before. He can make a one-foot shield that can take damage from both my and Nitro’s power attacks. And he can use it like a blade within fifteen feet of him.” Hammer whistled hearing this. “That sounds like a great power! Good for defense and offense. I don’t know much about Esper powers, but our number one player does. When voting and all that is finished, I’ll ask him about it and send you a message where to go. What’s the full name of his power? Just so I can pass it to Dynamo.” "Dynamo? Thought Xodeus was your go to Esper guy" "Nah, he started new and changed his name." “He changed his name?” “Yup. Apparently, he’s been creating new characters over and over, trying to find the ultimate Black Listed Esper power.” “That sounds like a pain in the a*s. What is he trying to get?” “Not sure about the name, but it apparently is an Esper copy ability. I don’t really know. He talked to the Devs about Esper powers and he learned about a lot of the Black Listed powers. He didn’t get what he wanted, but got a powerful one.” “What a lucky bastard.” “Got that right. So what’s Lazy's power again?” “Energy Manipulation: Power Shield. Like I said, we’ve never heard of it but it seems powerful.” “Sweet! I’ll pass the message along. Try to be in Kansas City in a month or so. I’m taking my guild there now.” “Where are you guys coming from?” “We are all in Cali now. It’ll take us a while to get everything we need to be there. We are also working with Playhouse, Story Watchers and Slaying Hunters. Bringing some solo players with us as well. The other guilds are coming from the other coast or Canada or Mexico. The Iron Legion lucked out. A lot of their members are stationed in KC, so won’t be long for them.” “Right on. I’ll let my group know and we’ll make our way there. I think we’ll go to New Orleans and take a boat up river to get there quicker.” “Cool cool. Glad to hear it! I’ll let the other guild masters know! Make it safe Swift!” “You too, man!” The call ended. “Okay guys”, Swift called out. “New game plan. We headed to Walat to get some supplies and then we are going to New Orleans to get a boat and head up the Mississippi to get to Kansas City. Apparently, the other guilds are heading there with all the players.” “Right on! Sleepy is in KC now. TheMadGodCthulhu and FulllMetalCheg are both heading there with a guild” Lazy said. “So what’s going on exactly” Grimm asked? “Ah sorry Grimm. I keep forgetting you just joined. There are guilds of other players that have been summoned here. We plan to make our way to Walat, which is just the Walmart twenty minutes from here. We will make our guild, Bad Company, and meet up with the other guilds. From there, players will vote on what nation to back, what groups are going to handle the world event and what to do to plan for the next one.” “Why is there a town here” Grimm questioned? “We aren’t close to any mountain range. Thought Lazy said this is technically the Wildlands?” “Ah, that’s my bad” Lazy stated. “There are rogue towns. Basically, groups of people that don’t like either nation and decide to live on their own. They have more freedom but have to deal with monsters on their own. No military protection, just their own defenses. Although Walat has some decent fortifications. They have cars tipped over as walls and use the Walmart as a large house for everyone. The parking lot is fenced off by the cars and has all their crops and farm animals inside.” “Damn. They must be doing great then!” “Not as well as you think” Power interrupted. “I remember starting and they had a big goblin problem. I remember Nitro getting swarmed when we entered their lair for the first time.” “Don’t remind me! It was terrible! All those little bitches running around. I’m ready this time.” “So do we head to the town and see if we can help with the goblins and then get supplies to leave for New Orleans?” “I’m game” Lazy said. The rest of the group agreed. They all double check their gear before heading off through the woods to Walat.
