End of a Duel

Evaline towered over Lazy as he tried to catch his breath.

“Yeah know kid. It’s only been twenty seconds. You haven’t even used your aura like your friend over there.” She gestures towards Swift who was using his swords to pick himself up off the ground. “Even he knows how to use it. Just barely. Show my your skills kid.”

Lazy chuckled and tried to speak, but before he could Evaline grabbed him by the collar, hoisted him up and threw him at Swift who was already running at them.

Swift quickly dropped his swords and caught Lazy. Granted he was also knocked to the ground by the force of her throw, but caught him nonetheless. Lazy was in Swift’s arms like a princess.

“My gawd. You’re an ugly princess” Swift said as he tossed Lazy off of him.

“Har har. Asshat. Splitting up wasn’t a good plan. Didn’t think she would use the ball as a weapon.” The two spoke as they got up off the ground.

“Yeah and that b***h hurts. How’d that kick taste? That looked painful” he said with a cheeky smile.

“Oh bite me. It hurt worse then that ball you took to the face. You want to have first hit and I’ll look for an opening?”

“Sure. Nothing better to do.”

Swift brandished his swords and coated them in his aura and charges at her. Lazy stayed back a little and followed on his right side.

‘Wonder if they noticed my left side is weaker of if they are skilled working together’

Swift and Lazy were probably the most skilled out of the group of Champions. They spent the most time playing and playing together as a duo. Not saying the others weren’t also skilled, but these two have more experience working together.

With his Aura infused blades Swift held them out ready to strike at any opening. Evaline wasn’t going to give them one easily. As Swift got closer and swung his left sword Evaline flowed like water. He hand wrapped around the blade and used its own momentum to change the angle of the swing completely missing her. With his other hand Swift tilted his wrist turning the blades edge away from her, but turning the point closer and closer towards her. Once again she flowed like water. His attack was like slow motion to her well trained eye. She knew he was trying to use the blades point to knock the ball out of her hand. She wouldn’t let that stand. Instead she played into it. She positioned her hand that held the ball right into the tip of the blade stopping it. The sword pierced the ball, but the ball held the sword in place. Turning it into a safety ball.

“Ah ah ah. No shadow weapons.”

Evaline gripped the ball and also gripped the sword pulling it out of Swifts hand and out of the arena.”

“Well s**t. Lazy I can use some help!”

While Swift took a step back switching he blade to his right hand Lazy jumped in. He jumped off a rock throwing a punch Evaline easily dodge, but she was still hit and took a step back.

She realized she got hit from behind and was pushed away from the two. A thin purplish shield only a foot square hovered in the air. Her eyes went wide with a smile on her face.

“No wonder you haven’t used your Aura! You aren’t a pugilist but an Epser! Let’s see how strong that shield of yours is kid!”

She reeled back and threw a punch at the shield.

BOOM

A gust a wind pushed the Champions back and some villagers fell on their a*s.

“Well looky here”, Evaline said while circling the shield that was still standing. “I used all my strength, without my aura mind you, and it’s still standing. You got some talent. Let’s see what you can do.”

She quickly crouched down and darted towards the two. Lazy couldn’t pull his shield back fast enough, but thankfully Swift was there. He two handed his remaining sword and blocked Evaline. Her fist landed directly on his Aura infused blade.

“You also got some talent kid, although you aren’t using your Aura properly.”

“Yeah well, we got other plans. Lazy now!”

“Here goes nothing!” Lazy cried out as he tried Swifts plan. The two knew a lot about their classes play style and what they could do. Seeing this was their new reality they tried something. Swift suggest that Lazy should try to manipulate his shield into another shape. He couldn’t change the size, but figured out he can change the shape. He turned the normal square shield into a bubble that wrapped around Evaline hand. It held her arm in place and the ball hidden inside so she couldn’t toss it away from them.

“Oh clever brat!”

Lazy used his shield to grapple her and lift her into the air.

“Get her!”

As the two charged from either side Evaline was ready. With a split kick she kicked the two back away from her and began to tug at the Power Shield wrapped around her hand.

She punched and kicked with all her might as she dangled in the air. Lazy and Swift were both still recovering from her last attack. They were both bellow 50% health.

“Damn she’s strong” Swift said gasping for air.

“You said it. Only two hits and we are this hurt.”

Outside the arena Power came back. His armor looked different, but no one could tell what he did to change it.

“So what did I miss?” He asked while taking a seat on the wooden bench next to the others.

“They are getting their a*s kicked!” Nitro said with a a chuckle. He even wiped a tear from his eye. “It’s so fun to watch when it’s not you.”

“I wanted to help heal them, but I’m prettier sure that’ll be considered cheating. So hopefully they won’t die. We haven’t set a camp yet so if they die where do they go?”

“Actually that’s a good question” Power said. “If it’s like the game when they die they would respawn where they last were. We should definitely make a camp tonight.”

Back to the fight. Evaline was continuously punching and kicking the Power Shield. She wasn’t making any progress.

“Ah f**k this. You both win.” She finally used her Aura. Her entire body, besides her hand, started to glow as her teal colored Aura engulfed her!

Her Aura started to shine even bright as she focused it to her free hand as she balled a fist.

BOOOMM

This punch was even more devastating then the last one! Nearly everyone was pushed back or fell to the ground from the shockwave. Lazy and Swift crashed into the rocks near them taking even more damage.

As the dust cleared Evaline was free from the Power Shield and dusting herself off.

“That’s a crazy skill kid. If you were with me back in the day we would have made a name for ourselves. You guys win. I used my Aura.”

The two Champions immediately jumped up hugging one another and cheering. Seeing this everyone else’s stood up quietly awestruck by not only their Elder, but the Champions that beat her. The other Champions on the bench stood up cheering as well.

Evaline turned to the crowd.

“The kids beat me fair and square! Let’s have a feast tonight!”
